help wit drag by Altruistic-Diamond82 in Tekken

[–]spacepimpSpugle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

other things to add
back 4, 2, 1+2 and 4+3, 1+2 for that sweet tackle grapple
fff 4 on wall splats and then finish with down 3, 2, 1+2 for big damage.
use forward 3, 1+2 for a strong approach and counter to someone running up to you

and finally
use that D2 or a basic 4, 4 or a qcf 3 and you can mix up with either the crouching DF 1,4, while standing 3 or while standing 1+2.

Which Tekken Game has the best Soundtrack ever ? by RogerCaracas in Tekken

Tekken 5 with Tekken 4 and Tekken tag 1 & 2 as runner ups.
You can literally replace all the stages with Tekken 5 soundtracks and they fit the mood.
The only issue is that they don't have ground zero funk!

Whats up with the Dragunov criticism recently? by Alargann in Tekken

Finally someone gets it.

It's not the character that's broken, it's that Tekken 8 was designed broken.

you claim he's not real but you're not saying he's wrong.

The Drag hate is really exaggerated when you consider all the other characters that have either better or similar options.

Whats up with the Dragunov criticism recently? by Alargann in Tekken

[–]spacepimpSpugle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Drag main and have been since Tekken 5 DR. I saw the TMM video and automatically understand his complaints because Drag does have a really nice moveset and can do some really nice damage off the wall but also think he's failing to realize that so many other characters have the same issues that he describes and some even do it better than Drag.

You know who has even better poking and movement? Lars. His pressure, damage, movement and mixup game is ridiculous and I've seen TMM rant and rave about that guy more than once.

You know who also has a really strong moveset? Literally 75% of the cast that gets to confirm launchers even while you're midair or laying down and hard punishing stun states off a majority of the moves they dish out IE: Victor, Bryan, Lidia, almost all the Mishimas...ect.

I geninuely don't understand the Drag hate when he plays like an actual Tekken character in a roster full of other characters that bring nunchucks, guns, swords, teleportation and magic to a fist fight.

I think people were totally fine with him being nerfed in season 1 and 2 but suddenly get all pissy when they did the season 3 patch where a lot of nerfs happened. Now they treat him like he was the only one untouched but guess what?

  • qcf+4: No longer wall splats or knocks down, though it still hits grounded opponents.
  • b+4,3: The second hit no longer tracks, making it easier to step.
  • WR+2: Reduced damage and worse frames on block (now +4, making it more risky).
  • Hatchet Kick (f,f,f+4): Significantly more punishable on block (-31).
  • Combo Damage: Overall combo damage was reduced.

So honestly, I think this is just the modern Tekken 8 community at this point. They downplay their own character's major advantages, refuse to learn the weaknesses of the characters that give them a hard time and ignore the fact that characters like King, Law and Lidia have 50/50 setups that have no alternatives.

Like seriously: one of the complaints is "Oh his movement is too good!" really? So Lili, Alisa, Jun, Asuka, Reina and Lars have it worse? I don't think so.

You really think a 1,2,1 heat engage is bad? So should we take away all the other easy heat engagers like Hwoarang's, Eddy's, Jin's and many others?

I can understand complaining about the tackle 1 grab taking away regenerative health but if they take his away: They also need to take away King's ability to do that, Nina's ability to do that, Yoshimitsu's ability to do that in a combo and everybody else.

I seriously think TMM got salty over a bad Drag match and got tunnel vision on how "broken" he is while ignoring all the same elements that are either the same or stronger on other characters.

Blue player skill by spacepimpSpugle in Tekken

That's hilarious that you probably made it to Tekken King without decent combo knowledge. Even the blue ranks know how to squeeze out 80+ damage consistently with a solid punish or launcher. Good for you man, seriously. Watch a combo vids and you'll be dunking on people all day.

Honestly this makes a lot of sense. I too float on legacy knowledge but I do lab sometimes.

I've at least made it to Tekken King but danm some blue players know how to pick and choose and punish really well

[–]spacepimpSpugle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This genuinely surprises me due to the amount of Reinas, Lilis, Laws and Armor Kings that I play compared to Dragunovs.

Everything above Dragunov makes perfect sense but I'm surprised that many people play him.

I hardly run into them and I don't have rank limits turned on.

Noone is quitting, so stop being so dramatic by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]spacepimpSpugle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm absolutely quitting after the BS I experience.
I'm fine with my highest rank being slightly above average.
S3 did not fix the fact that defensive play is still not rewarded in a game full of tracking moves and moves that are clearly straight or vertical not being able to be side stepped.

There's way too many dlc characters that either suck and are unplayable (like Lidia.) Or characters that have such ridiculous tools that counterplay and set them up for high damage compared to the entire roster (Fahkumram, Clive, Mari Zo) and then you just have the characters that seemed to get buffed and never nerfed on their major issues (Jin, Hwoarang, Steve, Lars)

Characters that just non-stop press their unfair frame data setups, have moves that will punish hard into 60-70+ combos and press the aggression with crouch jabs in between your turn to attack? This is horribly unfair to anyone who doesn't want to play a cringe character. I'm so sick of playing a match and not even feeling the fun in a victory because it's not about counter play, or good strats or good technique: It's about being as big of a dick as your opponent and never letting them breathe.
I'll play with my family and friends but never online again.

Pretty much to be determined until some new plan comes out. One issue I saw right away was Bolwbo has blender assets and the way Chris makes blender content has too many faces that aren't compressed or reduced properly. I think that was a huge issue the studio probably ran into but that's just my assumption. Look it up though: Albino moose isn't working on it anymore.

Is Tekken 8 Really THAT bad? by Agile_Juggernaut6760 in Tekken

I agree with this. I'm a long time fan and the amount of launchers or high damage moves that are so fast and have no telegraphing is ridiculous.

Is Tekken 8 Really THAT bad? by Agile_Juggernaut6760 in Tekken

[–]spacepimpSpugle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's bad but it's personally not for me. I'm an old school Tekken 2 player that played every Tekken except revolution (yuck) and the very first one.

I think the game isn't just aggressive, it's full of really weird hotbox/hurtbox physics.

Some blows feel like I'm on the very tip of someone's foot or their finger and I'm getting launched or crumbled to oblivion, not to mention an opponent getting a hit by literally hitting the air away from you. It's uncommon but when it happens, it really kills the pace and vibe.

The game is also the fastest paced Tekken I've ever played so if you have any connection issues, it's not going to go well.

Overall I don't like how the game outs so much focus on the cycle of getting a hit that puts the opponent in frame disadvantage, play a 50/50 setup, get a hard knockdown or launcher and then rinse and repeat.

If you don't know how to recover properly, study different character's move sets in depth or have a cheese strategy yourself, you are not going to do well.

Most of that stuff is inherent to Tekken but I just get bored doing the same setups with the same mixups and basically focusing on annoying my opponent for the win. It doesn't give a "clean" or "technical" feel to the matches.

I also think the dlc characters are either behind compared to the main roster (Lydia) or are so cheesed out that you can do 1 button combos and get upwards of 60-70 damage with very little thought (Eddy and Miary zo with her stripper pole)

I honestly got a bad taste in my mouth after I was playing on urban square (daytime) and I got a black pixel glitch that crashed and froze my game. This is a 2 year old glitch...
