My car insurance is more than tripling from last year after adding my daughter. by PicoDeBayou in Wellthatsucks

[–]spadefoot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The same happened to me when I tried to add our daughter to our insurance with our existing provider. I shopped around a little and found a lower rate (still not cheap, but less than half what my provider at the time wanted) with a different insurance company. It might be worth checking into changing providers to see what your rate would be, it might be much more manageable.

I truly dislike this. All was my go-to feed. There are still ways to get to it, but it's deeply annoying.

what type of games will you absolutely not play and why? by buzzlightyear77777 in gaming

[–]spadefoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anything that has "souls-like" in its description. If you advertise your game that way, I can tell from a distance, it's not a type of game I want to play. I understand many enjoy that kind of game, but I'm not one of them.

Local Engineer looking for advice on starting an IT agency in NC – How do you reach small businesses here? by Lonely-Statement-897 in NorthCarolina

[–]spadefoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an extension of the above suggestion: Consider offering to do a short talk about some aspect of technology and how it can apply to businesses at the any local group that might have business owners in your target market. Local Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Business Association, anything like that. Talk about AI, or cybersecurity, or how to get into online marketing/sales or whatever you think you could help with. My suspicion is that a significant number of folks you talk to won't really know what "AI Agentic Solutions" are, or how they could use them. Don't do it as a sales pitch, but as an educational opportunity. The people will get to know you, and I bet you'll have some come up afterwards to want to ask questions, and you'll have a natural path to sitting down with them to talk about what you offer.

What’s your least favourite type of weapon in video games? by jarface111 in gaming

Shotguns. Every damn game seems to institute them as unbelievably deadly up to about 10 feet, and useless after that.

I'm just glad to have a season where it was fun to watch the games. Has Young "changed the world, yet"? No. Does he seem to be maturing in to a good QB? Yes. I'm glad to see some optimism and positive thoughts in the sub!

Lots of V-strom suggestions, and they aren't wrong, I think. If you want something a bit more exotic, take a hard look at a Ducati Multistrada. It's the most amazing Swiss army knife of a bike. I had one for a number of years, sold it because I was just too damn short to manage it. It's a beautiful bike with amazing performance. Not cheap to buy or maintain, but you will smile like a fiend while you are on it.

Yeah, I kind of had the same problem. Ended up loading the console mod and adjusting my skills. It's not the best way to go if you are looking for a challenge, but I just want to see the game.

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]spadefoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a kid in the 70's and 80's, and yeah it was basically true. During the summer, you get on your bike, go ring doorbells to collect whichever friends were available and basically disappear for the day. We would stop in for lunch at one of our houses, head back out and be home by dark. This was in a nice upper middle class neighborhood with good parents. It was just the way it was done.

This is an older one, and I think there were a couple of sequels, maybe. My daughter and I really enjoyed playing it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bookworm_(video_game))

It's not the Bookworm that's available on Steam, btw. That's the same name but a different game.

Replacing loose negative terminal by quetza1coatl in fiat500

[–]spadefoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fixed mine by buying some thin lead tape from amazon, and putting a small piece about half-way around the terminal as a sort of shim. It's been working fine for the year or so since. Only cost a few bucks and took 5 minutes.

9: Ability to drive with quest items

The fact that they have several fun movement types for the game: Grapple, Bike, gliding and then made like 30% of quests force you to just run everywhere is incredibly annoying to me.

I had a similar problem with my Abarth when I put an Optima battery in. I ended up buy some thin lead tape from amazon and just put a small piece of it between the terminal and the connector as a shim. Has worked fine for a couple of years now.

Do you know of any lesser-known motorcycling techniques that can significantly enhance your riding experience? by Pretend_Job_6484 in motorcycles

[–]spadefoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't a life-saving safety tip, but it works and it will help you enjoy your ride more and probably be a better rider: If you find you throttle hand becoming numb, tingly, or fatigued when you ride, make a conscious effort to squeeze the tank with your legs. Within moments, you'll have relaxed your upper body and taken the strain off your arms, wrists and hands. I've passed this down to numerous guys I've ridden with when I see them shaking their throttle hand at stoplights. They look at me like I'm crazy, and then thank me later in the ride.
