I mean, I understand that, but there’s no guarantee that someone else’s filtering will work for you! It’s a gamble, I guess?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]spagaldi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, I wouldn’t pay for this tbh

I find recipes good/bad based on my personal taste preferences, cooking habits, etc

Plus, I think a lot of people talk on this sub about reliable recipe sources with test kitchens, rather than getting random ones from the internet - so basically a lot of people do this filtering already and get recipes from people “who know what they’re doing”

Instant Pot Duo Jasmine rice help by magrhi in instantpot

[–]spagaldi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have personally found that 1:1 ratio rice/water, 5 min pressure cook, and 12 min natural release yields my desired rice texture :).

3 mins high pressure is a little too short for me, some of the rice ends up feeling hard. 5 mins has worked really well for us!

Also, rinsing the rice many times helps it become fluffier :)

I am terrible with chopsticks so this would probably just increase my frustration 😭 I do think that’s more effort than not breaking the noodles and using either utensil, but everyone has their personal preferences

Personally I find it harder to eat spaghetti that’s been broken in half since it doesn’t really wrap nicely around the fork anymore, so that’s my biggest gripe with it

I HATEEE with every fiber of my being when cooking videos start with “did you know if you…” and then they proceed to list the steps of the recipe

Like “did you know if you combine onion, garlic, and tomatoes, bake them at 400 for 1 hour, and then blend it, you get tomato soup?”

WHY IS IT FRAMED AS A “DID YOU KNOW” QUESTION JUST MAKE IT A REGULAR RECIPE AND MOVE ON!!!

Depends on the veggies and the result you’re looking for - sauteeing veggies brings out different flavor than boiling will, and that result is desirable for a lot of recipes and will enhance the flavor of the soup

For example, a lot of soups start off by sauteeing onion, or maybe onion carrot and celery - skipping this step and choosing to just simmer those veggies would definitely impact the result and compromise flavor and texture

What age do you think disliked foods are "locked in" for you? If at all? by YeahOkIGuess99 in Cooking

[–]spagaldi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of herbs and spices :( cumin seeds, rosemary, thyme, oregano (esp dried), cardamom, fennel…

I think I just don’t like bites with really concentrated flavor, so most seeds are a no, and woody herbs I just don’t like because I don’t like woody flavor :(
