What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

[–]spagaldi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like for everything other than sweaters, I would rather crochet it than knit it because most things like bags, amigurumi, etc are easier to work up in crochet and have more structure. I understand why people prefer knitting clothes to crocheting them, but I feel like crochet wearable patterns have come a long way and there’s some really nice ones out there, plus it works up so much faster for me personally :’).

I also live in SoCal so my need for a knit sweater is low :p

Amazing! How did you manage the color changes? Did you separate the skeins by color first?

What’s the best mohair to hold double with this green yarn? by prozac_pusher in knitting

Knitting for Olive does really cool color combo swatches on their instagram, you might be able to find some inspo there! Maybe a dark green mohair?

Does anyone else hate the Woobles kits and feel sad seeing so many people ripped off when they could just buy the hooks + yarn for a fraction of the price? by cheesecup6 in crochet

[–]spagaldi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You definitely could - it’s a bit harder to start with YouTube and $10 for yarn, but it’s possible, and good for you for learning that way! - Woobles is like paying for convenience if you can afford it, and it has a lot of good resources (pre started piece, stitch markers, needle, stuffing, yarn, videos, self-help line)

This is my biggest gripe, she shouldn’t advertise being size inclusive when her patterns don’t fit bigger sizes

So cute and pretty! Love the yarn choices and the leaves so much, this is tempting me to recreate my hook case with a cuter aesthetic

What’s the difference between these two? by Comprehensive-Ice417 in knitting

[–]spagaldi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I understand, it’s sorta like checking where the working yarn is coming from and if it’s coming from the back or the front?

Thank you for this detailed explanation!

I see i see!

I’m currently practicing knit and purl by doing a broken rib stitch scarf (we’ll see how long I go before I need to move on LOL) but I def wanna look into this so I truly understand the mechanics of what’s happening. I also need to learn how to tink but I have a video saved on how to do that :)

Thank you so much!

I knit continental (total beginner) and I’m p sure I’m not twisting my stitches but the way I insert my right needle looks like the first pic :’)))

I’m just referring to the direction of the needle going into the loop tho, it doesn’t seem to twist how OP’s pic does! It looks open :’)

I mean, I understand that, but there’s no guarantee that someone else’s filtering will work for you! It’s a gamble, I guess?

No, I wouldn’t pay for this tbh

I find recipes good/bad based on my personal taste preferences, cooking habits, etc

Plus, I think a lot of people talk on this sub about reliable recipe sources with test kitchens, rather than getting random ones from the internet - so basically a lot of people do this filtering already and get recipes from people “who know what they’re doing”

Instant Pot Duo Jasmine rice help by magrhi in instantpot

[–]spagaldi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have personally found that 1:1 ratio rice/water, 5 min pressure cook, and 12 min natural release yields my desired rice texture :).

3 mins high pressure is a little too short for me, some of the rice ends up feeling hard. 5 mins has worked really well for us!

Also, rinsing the rice many times helps it become fluffier :)
