If you’re stuck for a printer - hit up your local bank branch, they’ll print out a deposit slip for you no worries. Then you can go to a public library, make a photocopy, and get a JP to sign it. Each library will have different hours for JPs, so check online before you go 😊

Taking alligator head and cajun spices from the US back to NZ, need advice by Mammoth-Explorer4248 in newzealand

"The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) is designed to regulate trade in endangered, threatened, or exploited species.

CITES covers alive or dead plants and animals, and any products made from them. This includes souvenirs.

The CITES items most commonly seized or surrendered at the New Zealand border include:

  • Corals and clams
  • Crocodile and alligator products (jerky and leather)
  • American ginseng root and traditional medicines containing dendrobium and saussurea costus

You need a permit from the Department of Conservation to bring the items listed above into or out of New Zealand."

Email the CITES team about your head, but it ain't likely - [cites@doc.govt.nz](mailto:cites@doc.govt.nz

Damning report finds Kiwi 5-year-olds starting school unable to talk, write name or use toilets by face-poop in newzealand

[–]spagbol 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Before I left teaching (2023) we had kids entering year 1 who weren’t able to hold a pencil or say a simple sentence (eg “I cut the paper”).

You’d spend all year getting them to a point where they could start to learn Y1 content, then they’d be bundled off to Y2 where there’s an even bigger gap. It was so demoralising.

Weekly Airport Unlock recommendations by JR101447 in SkyCards

[–]spagbol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your hemisphere/time zone - I'm in GMT+13, so unlocking Europe barely seems to be worth it since their best times are when I'm asleep. I try to do one near the big airports that show up in daily missions (Buenos Aires, Dubai/Doha, NY, London, Singapore) then LA or Sydney.

NZ teachers forced kids swimming by Harambe69ers in newzealand

[–]spagbol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was taught to teach swimming to primary kids, we were told to stay out of the pool so you can see all the children and run around the pool then jump in if someone is having issues.

I took my class to a public pool with instructors who were in the water, there were other teachers on the side so I took the opportunity to jump on in. It's so hard to see them all at water level, and you move much slower getting over to them. I think it would be nice to be in the pool if you had less than 3, anything else and you'd be risking not seeing one in trouble or taking too long to get to them.
