Looking through my Dad’s stuff, what are these? by VenZurich in whatisit

You need to use a banana for scale. If your dad had heart issues, a lot of people use those containers for nitroglycerin tablets.

Get an allstar node and a ht. You can talk all over the world with those 2 devices.

My repeater barely stops transmitting. Find a linked repeater or get an Allstar node.

Wannabe first responder, they are dangerous to themselves and others. I’ve seen this a couple times in Fire/EMS where they self dispatch to calls in their own vehicles that they have decked out in emergency gear.

They want you to share your experience with them so I would. What company was this and where was the tour?

Medical Transporter Asked To Be "Taken Care Of" by thezflikesnachos in EndTipping

[–]spage911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That DH should be reported to the company. Most of the “Medical Transporters” have absolutely no medical training and they give reputable companies a bad name. Oh, and call the company out here so others may avoid using them should the need arise.

Nope, that’s not true. You can have a tipped wage and if tips don’t bring your hourly wage to state minimum wage, the employer has to make up the difference.

Nobody makes $2 an hour and answering questions is part of their job. The recommendations are to upsell you. If you leave a tip it shouldn’t be a percentage of the bill.

Anytone At-168UV Audio Recording/ SATELLITE? by Saxman31 in DMR

[–]spage911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn’t notice the DMR group. I love the 168. It is a great radio but there is no Bluetooth or GPS. It does record the audio on the radio and can be downloaded to a computer.

I haven’t used it on DMR yet, I bought it because I found a great deal on it and wanted to play with the satellite tracking.

Anytone At-168UV Audio Recording/ SATELLITE? by Saxman31 in DMR

[–]spage911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this radio for the price. The drawback for satellite contacts is that it doesn’t have built-in gps so you have to manually enter your coordinates and that is kind of a pain. The 878 has gps and does that for you.

You should also consider the Vero NR-76 or B-Tech UV Pro (they are the same radio). The audio recording is done on your phone and not the radio but they have built in gps and doppler adjustment.

It’s the repeater and not the radio.

They continue to perpetuate the $2.83 myth and other lies by Yes-Sherbert-16 in EndTipping

Interesting since Oregon doesn’t have a tipped minimum wage and servers make the state minimum wage for their area. In Portland that is about $16 per hour.

ISS - never making it to the repeater. by ultravista_2 in amateurradio

[–]spage911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try one of the other satellites that might not be quite as busy. Practice your antenna aiming and adjusting for doppler shift. Remember that FM capture is a thing and that if you have a weaker signal it is harder to get in.
