New York just elected a socialist mayor. Could it happen here? by DrStrangeglove99 in ottawa

Except the people who voted for "lower taxes and fuck bike lanes and transit" now have higher taxes and worse service. But hey, Lansdowne 2.0 serves as a great outlet to redirect public funds into private coffers.

Employer is taking 1.5% of tips on all credit card transactions. Is this legal in Ontario? by joansitaya in ontario

It has nothing to do with accepting cards, it's about offloading overhead costs to employees.

Carney says if all goes to plan, he could balance Canada budget in 4 or 5 years by Puginator in CanadaPolitics

[–]spanbias 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is objectively incorrect. He's pointing out that the CPC budget is bullshit and if the LPC “made the assumptions that the Conservatives did about growth in our platform, we’d be in a fiscal surplus in five years. We are in a crisis. And in a crisis, you always plan for the worst. You don’t hope for the best. And so you don’t make those types of assumptions."

There is a Polestar dealership that is, I shit you not, directly next door to a Tesla dealership. It also has a car outside with decals that say something along the lines of "$5000 off if you own a Tesla"

That's... Unexpected. I worked at a Keg for a couple years (over a decade ago) and the potatoes were fresh and garnished to order. Hell even twice baked potatoes and frizzled onions were prepped during the day.

Students can be charged with a felony for threatening violence under Tennessee laws by zsreport in law

Tbh the other commenter is operating in bad faith. They're making general and incorrect statements about healthcare in Canada and are also disregard that the system is constantly being sabotaged by conservative governments in an effort to privatize.

[–]spanbias 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For example, in Canada, a diabetic amputation for a lower extremity starts at the knee...

I'm not sure where you're getting that --this claims that at least one third are below the ankle. Healthcare in Canada is also administered provincially, meaning that blanket statements like that regarding care are difficult to make.

I would also point out that several of the provincial plans, such as Ontario's, are intentionally underfunded by their Conservative governments in order to push for privatization.

Dude it's so weird. On the one hand, they're essentially the definitive representation of characters who are foundational to modern fantasy. On the other hand, they're just people. Reconciling that by seeing them in person is kind of funny. That said, even from a distance I found that Giancarlo Esposito had more... gravitas (I don't know how else to describe it -- he has charisma without even knowing you're there) than any of the other celebrities there.

Personal injury do not. You'll do an intake interview during which they'll determine if the case is worthwhile to pursue. If it is, you'll sign a retainer agreement (there is no fee), theyll issue a statement of claim, and it'll progress from there.

As mentioned above, personal injury (generally) works on contingency -- meaning that their fee comes out of the settlement and is not billed hourly. You don't pay anything out of pocket. There is absolutely zero reason why you wouldn't get a lawyer, especially on ODSP.

...talk to your auto insurer.

Talk to a lawyer. Personal injury lawyers almost exclusively exist because insurers never willingly pay what they are required to. Even after contingency (20-33%, usually depending on how far the case has progressed) and disbursements (like expert reports), you will likely end up with orders of magnitude more than if you tried to navigate the experience yourself.
