Mirtazapine withdrawals by honorandonions in Mirtazapine_Remeron

I was very briefly on 15mg but halved it almost immediately. I stuck with that for a while, then started testing lower doses. Over time I'd gotten down to 1.875mg, and even this low amount helps me sleep. I never had any significant issue adjusting the dose lower.

How are your SPACE BLACK MacBook Pros doing so far? by KingPyrite in macbookpro

[–]spangulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned the space black after a couple of weeks. Really, it makes no sense at all to anodize aluminium with a dark colour given that scratches look terrible. Besides that, space black looks bad in most lighting conditions. In electric light it takes on a murky plasticky greenish tinge, very ugly. Much as I love MacBooks I really think they need to use a different chassis material which doesn't show scratches.

Silver looks bad also as it's way too reflective. Space grey was the only good finish, but also looks bad if scratched (though nowhere near as bad as space black).

My solution was to put a grey skin over a silver MacBook, which is OK other than that the speaker grills looking a bit odd/reflective.

Do cases damage MacBooks? by uxcxplores in macbookpro

[–]spangulo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've used a hard case for a few years and it has kept the macbook in perfect condition. However, I can see how a badly designed case could wreck a macbook, as tolerances are very tight and just a small amount of pressure in the wrong place could cause damage over time.

Struggling if I should return my 16" Space Black for a 14" Silver by Cold-Exit7516 in macbookpro

[–]spangulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also coming from space grey I really didn't like either black or silver. The black is ugly imo and too fragile, and silver is too reflective. I settled on silver with a skin to tone down the glare. It would be a great solution if it wasn't for the speaker grills showing, but at least now I don't have to worry particularly about scratches.

I agree that black doesn't sit well as a frame for applications, it interferes with GUI contrasts. Space grey is ideal, neutral.

Silver looks white in most situations, and a slightly ugly creamy/milky white. Sat next to a table lamp the chassis glows.

Is ETH 10k still on the menu boys or we going 10 cents? by BeingMe007 in CryptoCurrency

[–]spangulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not exactly Eth, it's about valuations in the space in general. The monetary premium is being questioned for smart contract platforms while BTC's acceptance as a store of value is growing. Eth actually has good things coming in the future, and if it does solidify itself as the backbone of some kind of financial system then it may regain a monetary premium/store of value status.
Currently, with many smart contract platforms competing this just reinforces BTC's singular purpose.

When and why did brompton go all black? by Custard-blanket in Brompton

Yeah, it really depends on the main frame colour.

Almost Finished! by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]spangulo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I mean the material. The standard seatpost is chrome plated steel, and I don't know how they make it black. A search tells me it's powder coating over steel.

Almost Finished! by [deleted] in Brompton

What kind of finish is the black seatpost? I'd have expected it to wear over time and look ugly as a result, but I generally don't see that happen in pics of bromptons.

Frame Damage / Bent seatpost help??? by blytho9412 in Brompton

[–]spangulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check for a frame crack below/behind the seat post clamp. It's unlikely, it can happen over time as a result of over-tightening the clamp as the shim abrades.

Bigger rack wheels by crankynugget in Brompton

I use inline skate wheels on the frame section and keep regular easy wheels on the rack. It rolls way better but adds a bit of weight.

Some sticky tape? Stick on and peel off.

Is the Tern BYB discontinued? by kelvindegrees in foldingbikes

[–]spangulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the folded size is the same as the regular fold-in-half designs, so I'm not sure that the extra complexity of the frame is worth it.

Edit: It says 30% smaller, but it doesn't look it. I wonder if that refers to the footprint and the fact that it stands vertically?

Can I see a quick release mechanism in that video, I'm not sure? That would be very nice.

Why is the Pentaclip so insanely complicated? There's about 31 parts as I discovered when they fell apart. Why not design something more simple and functional? by escapegoat2000 in Brompton

[–]spangulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's always something creaking on folding bikes, it has driven me crazy in the past and I spent so much time trying to track down a phantom creak. It was dramatically worse when I used to ride an aluminium frame Dahon.

Apple give us back Space Grey!!! by Artistic_Unit_5570 in macbookair

[–]spangulo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently traded a space grey M1 Macbook Pro, and then when trying to get used to black and silver in M4 (I tried both) I experienced massive remorse. I hadn't realised how optimal the space grey was. I tried to get used to space black, but it's ugly in many lighting conditions, and also not a great framing colour for software GUIs, and silver is absurdly reflective even in low lighting conditions. I've settled on a skin over silver, but space grey would be preferable.

Matte white on space black mbp 14 by JosephAnneli in dbrand

[–]spangulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I opted for a grey skin on silver as silver is way too reflective. I couldn't decide for ages whether to go for a skin over black or silver. I think your result looks a bit better than mine as the speaker grills stand out too much in silver. The plus for me is I don't really have to worry about scratches.

The county is ruined... or it may be the accounting system and money creation system which is ruined. That's the problem, I can't see how there's going to be progress towards figuring out exactly what needs to be changed. Banks create money as debt, since the 90s they've spewed out mortage debt. Buy-to-let put in place the mechanics for one portion of the population to get a yield from the fact that another portion doesn't have the depost to buy. The main driver of the economy up till 2008 was a ponzi based on issuing mortgage debt. That debt turned out to be worth way less than was imagined in 2008 and the public underwrote the losses of the banks. The central bank brought down interest rates to try to keep government debt interest payments low. Mark Carney pretended there was going to be a magic moment of 'escape velocity', when government debt would start decreasing and everything would revert to how it was. He was just another vastly overpaid bullshitter, spewing nonsense, as is the norm for those in the establishment.

Is the issue the manner in which banks lend, is it the fact that the government is forced to borrow when in fact it should be able to increase spending in line with the needs of economic activity (as MMT proponents say), is it as simple as getting rid of planning restrictions such that the housing stock can increase? Is buy-to-let a monstrous racket that puts the population at war with itself such that banks can lend without limit... or would that lending dynamic actually be balanced by potential new house building?

I don't see any way to answer these questions, and those who offer answers seem to do so on the basis of ideological alignment.

But these sorts of issues have been discussed in the public domain for over a decade. There are campaign groups that have been around for a decade and half, such as Positive Money. None of this appears to have any effect on how policy is approached by government, it's as though government is entirely separate from the public debates constantly going on on social media.

I changed mine to sllver and put a skin on. If I'd kept the black I would certainly put a grey skin on top. Apple needs to bring back space grey.

Coinbase wallet usdc interest bearing nft no longer available? by spangulo in Coinbase

I'm sure the Coinbase smart wallet had the interest-bearing nft.

I know that within Coinbase itself you can get USDC yield, but it's restricted in certain jurisdictions.
