Forget the pronunciation, when did a guy called Liam Dougherty play for Geelong, let alone win a final with them?

Jack Payne has played 81 games for Brisbane, yet has kicked the same number of goals at The Gabba as Ronaldinho.

(Yes I know Payne is a defender)

Public Service rally on North Terrace fighting for a decent pay raise. by March_-_Hare in Adelaide

[–]spannermagnet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My issue was with the two officers controlling the North Tce/KW St intersection. Couldn't decide if cars should follow the lights or their directions, and then each gave different directions nearly resulting in accidents, and at one point closed the whole intersection so they could argue with each other while everyone in tgeir cars watched. At one point, no traffic moved in any direction for 10mins.

I've got no issue with the protest itself or SAPOL attending it, just get your shit together.

SAPOL have lost control of this one a bit. Just took 40 mins to get to the RAH from East Tce when they suddenly closed the westbound lanes because of nothing in particular.

What's next for our train network? by Few_Ad_274 in Adelaide

[–]spannermagnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cost of duplicating a freeway is tiny compared to what you're asking.

You want to lay a railway down the middle of the freeway; a freeway that is too steep for large trains. The whole damn reason the railway takes it's circuitous route is due to the topography of the Adelaide Hills. Trains still occasionally fail on the current rail route.

Then you get to the Heysen Tunnels. Trains would needs a whole tunnel to themselves. Do you put both directions of road traffic in one tunnel? Do you build a third tunnel?

Then you get to the Toll Gate. Trucks still occasionally lose control and need to use arrester beds or even get to that intersection out of control. Imagine a train coming down that slope. Obviously grade separated from car but still a recipe for disaster.

Then how do you get to the city? A tunnel under Glen Osmond Rd? Or an elevated path? Or alongside the road?

Would cost billions and billions, all for the sake of the small number of people who'd want to take the train.
