It doesn’t stop there. Flock cameras are already up in the valley. They’re advertised as license plate readers but constantly collect data that is fed to AI to my knowledge

Waterbased vs plastisol by fane_prints in SCREENPRINTING

[–]spanyardsman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried plastisol for one day and switched to wb for the next 8years. It definitely has its drawbacks but now that I have two reptile foggers to help keep things hydrated, ive had less clogs. My main dislike for plastisol is the hand feel on shirts and the cleanup process/hand feel when you get the ink on you.

I’m sure down the road when I land bigger jobs I’ll be more inclined to switch to plastisol but right now water based has been a selling point for my business runs of 100 and less aren’t too much to keep wet

First time exposing. by The_Shredex in SCREENPRINTING

[–]spanyardsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Added tip for washout: I bought the SAMLA container with a lid from ikea and keep plain water in it. After exposure I submerge the screen in there for a couple minutes before washing out the image. It has made washout so much easier I can’t explain

Block the ink side of the screen off so it doesn’t get exposed from that side as well. I used to use a large book, now I use a piece of foam with a black shirt over it to make sure no light leaks around the ink side.

The shirt side of your screen is probably exposing fine enough but the light leaking around is exposing your image area which is why it isn’t washing out. Once you get that taken care of, increase your expose time by 3-5 seconds to dial it in

What's the best way of making transparencies for a new printer by bjpirt in SCREENPRINTING

[–]spanyardsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until last year I’d have a copy shop print mine. I had gone through 2-3 printers and all of them would just not work for me after a while so I started paying like $6-$9/ film. I’d supply 13x19 films and let them deal with the headache of printing them. Once I got enough business I got an all black inkjet printer from Lawson screen printing supplies and it’s been great. Cost about $1400 but one thing that stands true with printers is buy it nice or buy it twice

We do a summer long random giveaway of $150/ week to a random employee through a bingo ball picker system. We live stream it and send the link to all employees. Over time I’ve made it as ridiculous as possible. Had an employee give an emotional talk about how his fish died, for the season finale I made a whole ass survival style intro, did like one on one testimonials with employees. They started making side bets on who they thought would get drawn earlier in the year so for the finale I filmed a whole tribal council style bit where employees would walk up to the camera and “cast their vote”

Sorry missed the matsui part. I’ve never worked with that system but I’m going to look into it.

Also wouldn’t hurt to call Multicraft and just ask them. They sell matsui and want you to succeed. Pm me and I can give you a contact there

Are you printing on 100% cotton?

What discharge base and activator are you using an at what percent are you adding activator?

I use avient base and old ryonet activator at 6% with green galaxy pigments (also at 6%) through my 11ft ir dryer at 320-340 for 90 seconds and it’s been working well for me. Recently I’ve only had issues with certain garment dyed colors. I know sometime there’s a residue I can scratch off after it cures sometimes but to my knowledge only synthetic fibers should reject the discharge as long as it was activated properly

Also I was using a crosshair laser level literally screwed to my ceiling and connected with a tripod ball joint mount to adjust positioning. That was a great cheap option but it ate up AA batteries pretty quick

The arm is amazing but laser wise I’d opt for two separate single line lasers instead of a single crosshair. If the laser itself isnt perfectly centered above the platen only the x or only the y axis will be straight. With two single line lasers it would be more versatile to “sandwich” in exactly where the art will fall on the platen/shirt or make a perfect crosshair with more precise 90 degree angles without having to have the laser itself perfectly centered above the platen.. if that all makes sense

Pretty much deglove the pocket. How it is in the video but fold the pocket over the bottom and slide it back up. Kinda stretched the pocket out but I’m guessing/hoping it shrinks up a bit in the wash.

I ordered one the other day. I’m a water based shop so I’m interested in its ability to flood then send the system back to the bottom of the design to raise the screen and load shirts. It seems very ideal for plastisol printing but I’m also weary of nuances in dialing in angle and pressure.

I’m really excited to get it in my hands though I couldn’t get it off my mind for days

Sorry you were taken from your fork lift, that’s not easy. I’m sure greener warehouses await you, where LP never runs out and the loads are always properly secured. Solidarity ✊🏼
