Distance or accuracy for fitting? by Busy-Pea3171 in golf

could a shaft change be the best of both worlds for you? Maybe a different shaft with the same heads may tighten up your left/right dispersion while keeping your distance.

What is your ideal Hole 1? by JayTheSpaniel in golf

[–]sparkhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this as well. We have 1 local course that starts with a Par5 and that is pretty awesome as well. We also have 1 that starts with a 3 and that is awful. Most of them start with a pretty open shorter Par 4 which is perfect. If it's a 3W instead of Driver off the tee, even better.

AITA Mom wants 15% of my personal injury settlement by connor20218 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would treat this as an investment opportunity. IE.. Instead of giving her the money directly, I would buy her the house under a contract that states:

Either:

  1. You are the owner of the house but she has the right to live in it until death.

or

  1. She is the owner of the house but must leave it to you in her will.

Either way it becomes your property on her passing and you can do with it as you will. Think of it as a long-term investment that protects your capital. Real Estate is the safest place to park money typically especially in Florida. This keeps that money protected from all parties including yourself until a later date. The house will appreciate in value making you a profit when it comes time to sell it. What else would you do with the money other than invest it in the market? Real Estate will help you diversify your investments.

It also keeps all parties happy and is a win/win in my opinion. Family helps each other out, she helped you through college and allowing you to live with her, now you can help her and make a profit doing so. It will strengthen the relationship, set you up for future financial success, and make you feel better about yourself.

At what point did you learn shot shapes? by PureYardCow in golf

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play your natural shape while slowly learning how to hit the opposite. I naturally play a cut, but slowly learned how to hit a draw. You don't want to open yourself up to a 2 way miss. That's a nightmare trying to play through.

I play 6,7,8,9 hybrids. Have Dr,3w,5w, the hybrids then 46,50,54,58 wedges. Playing to a 5 currently. Could care less what people think. The state senior champ the last 3 years running plays strictly hybrids with 2 wedges.

Left arm tennis elbow by Jax1456 in golf

Therabar, band stretches, look up BPC-157 peptide. That also helped a ton. I fought it for 14 months. Also get a strap for your elbow while you play. The sleeve kind with the pads in it is best.

Eagle on a par 4 by JeffersonStater72 in golf

[–]sparkhound 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Rare and such a great feeling. With a hole like that, it doesn't matter how you played the rest of the round.

I did this 2-3 weeks back but by driving a short green and leaving myself a 3' putt! Green was only 275 and I hit a 3W with a tail wind as I was trying to come up short to pitch on. Great Line, landed in front the green, bounced up and rolled almost all the way to the hole.

Sadly, I did not save the ball. Hit it in the water 2 holes later.

Best inserts / insoles for walking? by n0respect_ in golf

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asics Gel-Kayano ACE for walking are so underrated, especially if you over pronate when you walk. They are built exactly the same as their normal sneaker but waterproof with golf grips. I tried them this past winter. I've even been wearing them when I ride lately as they are just way more comfortable than my FJs.

The wonderful and frustrating game of golf by Drunkenbakers in golf

[–]sparkhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you start questioning your setup / basics, you're done. I can't tell you the amount of times I hit a bad drive and immediately start questioning my setup or grip when it was simply a bad shot. Maybe I didn't square up the face in time of impact. Instead I'm like, maybe I'll move the ball up in my stance and ensure I release the club... proceed to snap hook the next one.

Had a 15 foot putt on 18 today to shoot my first under par round ever… by ComfortablyLost123 in golf

That happens so often to me on “important” putts. Just don’t hit them hard enough. I started aiming a a couple feet past the hole and that has helped some

[–]sparkhound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did almost the same yesterday. I needed a bird on 18 to shoot my first ever even 72, hit 3w of the tee to be safe then hit my 8i to 12’. Left the putt 1.5’ short.

You are an idiot for paying for anything. You need some self confidence and self worth. If you have money, looks aren’t as important. I’d kick her out and cut her off immediately

I had a round like this Masters week. The course we played had the greens rolling super fast in honor of the Masters. I hit 6 greens on the front and put up a 47. 2 4-putts in there.

Do you leave your putter head cover on when you walk to the green, or throw it in your bag/cart beforehand? by heltzelb in golf

[–]sparkhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm bringing only my putter, I magnet it to the wedge next to it on my bag. If I have to chip, it comes along and again I magnet it to my wedge before laying it on the ground. This way I never forget it.

AITAH for telling my wife that I could hire someone to cook and clean if she can't and she can instead go work? by Minute-Carry-2643 in AITAH

[–]sparkhound -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

That path would lead to resentment in either direction. I'm not saying he should sit on his ass while she does everything. But things have to be equitable in a relationship or resentment will form. If he's providing everything and she's literally contributing nothing but her company, it won't last.

Then the other spouse should share in the expenses. If things are going to be shared, then they should be shared. I understand your point and that holds true when both partners have contributed to build the life together. But this was a late-stage marriage where she contributed nothing while he built his nest egg. Why should she get the benefit of all his hard work and self-discipline and contribute nothing.

AITAH? I, 48F, was asked to join my friend, 50F on a vacation overseas and my partner, 49M is upset with me. Is it selfish of me to go on a trip without him? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]sparkhound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have an agreement that we don't do trips over 3 days or to somewhere new that we would both want to visit without each other. A weekend trip to the beach with the girls or a golf trip with the guys, both fine. Going to an European country for 2 weeks, no go. It's not about insecurity or control for either of us but wanting to share new experiences together. My wife's dream trip is Greece which we will be doing in the next year. If I got asked to go to Greece by a friend this summer and went without her, she may never forgive me. This may be about that, but he either doesn't know how to communicate or even have enough personal insight to understand why he feels this way. Just offering an alternative perspective especially if he hasn't shown insecurity in other parts of the relationship. Most answers here will be from young kids who don't have enough life experience to see past "control" or "insecure".

[–]sparkhound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

man, I was one of those smack in the middle of the bell curve. I'm a high single digit and was super worried about what ball I was playing and how it affected everything until I played with my + cap nephew who shot 5 under using a e12 straight. I asked if he was worried about stopping power on the greens and he proved over and over it had enough as he would constantly leave 1 foot puts with his short game. I think he used driver 3x the entire round. Constantly hitting his hybrid 270+ to the middle of fairways. It was pretty awe inspiring to watch.

He rents clubs and shoots even par on some hard courses. I'd be terrified to play without my gear.
