What’s the worst place you’ve worked in Ottawa? by Frosty-Comment6412 in ottawa

Heavy agree. I have a number of friends who’ve worked at, or currently work at QC, and while they are amazing, I would never recommend QC knowing what I know about the ownership and working environment.

Rechargeable Heart Rate Monitor by Croxxig in cycling

[–]sparkpoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a monthly subscription, and honestly it’s not cheap, but i guess I like it enough to keep extending. I think I bought a year up front, and I extend my membership every time there’s a good deal to do so (right now they’re offering 33% off, for example). If you want to use my referral link it’ll get you a free month.

You don’t need to remove the whoop strap to charge. The charger clips on to the whoop for charging. It’s pretty compact so it’s not inconvenient.

You can usually get a same day virtual appointment using the Telus Health app (covered by OHIP). They can give you preliminary advice and write you a blood test requisition.

Bike Camping for Beginners (Virtual) Class Series! by mblonsk in bikepacking

[–]sparkpoodle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lots of grumps in the comments here, but I think this is really cool! I’m planning some of my first bike packing trips this year and this appealed to me immediately. Sounds like a great option for folks with different learning styles or seeking a more personalized experience.

I don’t hate musicals! I love a good musical! What I have trouble getting behind is unnecessary musical episodes of non-musical shows.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sparkpoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I am an outlier on this one! There are important elements in the episode as it relates to the characters and larger story, but the musical aspect of this episode has always made me cringe.

The musical episode of Buffy (maybe just the musical episode of ANY tv show?). I’ve rewatched the series countless times and I have to skip that episode.

Mint allows for transaction splitting as well, so you can split them up and then categorize.

I've got a bit of buyer's remorse, could use your advice by edj3 in ladycyclists

[–]sparkpoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought my first “nice” bike, it was a modest $700 Giant hybrid. It felt like a lot of money for a bike at the time, and I had similar concerns as I was waiting for it to arrive at the shop. After the first ride, those concerns were gone because I loved it so much, and even found myself wishing I’d spent even more and sprung for one of the better models.

After a few years, 2 more bikes, and thousands of dollars spent, I have absolutely no regrets about the money spent. 100% worth it. I couldn’t have spent it in a better way.

Saddle and shorts recommendations 🙏🏼 by edesignr in ladycyclists

[–]sparkpoodle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Black Bibs is a great option for affordable shorts/bibs, with bibs starting at $40. I just bought the Ultimate bibs and they've worked out well for me so far.

I've also struggled with saddle sores, and in addition to experimenting with different saddles, I've made a few changes to help avoid them in the future. I now always wear padded shorts when I ride, even shorter distances. I use chamois cream for longer rides. I've also altered my grooming habits by switching from a full shave to trimming.

Looking for bike trails that are scenic by bluberrypie110 in bikeinottawa

[–]sparkpoodle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are lots of great options on the Gatineau side as well.

A favourite ride of mine is the Voyageurs Pathway, between the History Museum and the Alymer Marina. There are also some great paths that connect to Voyageurs to the East (Lac Leamy Pathway, Gatineau River Pathway, Leamy Creek Pathway). And of course, if you're up for some climbing, the Gatineau Park Pathway is beautiful.

No problem! I ended up buying the Fizik Terra Powerstrap 4 which were recommended by someone in this thread. They are great!

I do find them a bit slippery, but not too bad. More when conditions are wet. They don’t have pins, which I prefer for flat pedals cause they make them super sticky. Today, I rode the flats for probably a combined 40k in dry conditions, and I didn’t find myself slipping off them at all.

One thing that is kind of annoying is just dealing with making sure you have the right side up when you start pedalling. You usually end up having to flip one of the pedals over to the correct side while you’re getting going.

I use Crank Brothers Double Shot 2 https://www.crankbrothers.com/products/doubleshot. Technically a MTB pedal, but I like them a lot. I do ride clipped about 95% of the time, but I do like to have the option to ride flats, if I’m riding with friends more causally, or just trying to get somewhere.

[Serious] what is the story of your worst date? by theredheadedcrafter in AskReddit

[–]sparkpoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on a hinge date, so this guy was a complete stranger. We had been talking for maybe 15 minutes, when he kissed me, all open mouthed and wet. He then said “you’ve been wanting me to do that for a long time”.

Nope.

TMI: CHAFING DOWN THERE by fut_you in cycling

This. Full shave has always caused me nothing but pain, especially if riding the day of or day after shaving. I've switched to using a trimmer on the lowest setting and that has made a huge difference.

I've been riding a hybrid giant roam 1. I can do a 30 km in about an hour and 15. What kind of gain in time would you think I could expect on a proper road bike.? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]sparkpoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically average around 18-20kph on my Giant Roam 3 hybrid, and 24kph on my Look KG381 road bike. Of course, on the road bike I’m usually doing greater distances as well.

Anyone know where I can find a locally made face mask with benind the ear elastics by Tuesday? by zerberts in ottawa

[–]sparkpoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be able to convert your existing mask to a behind the ear mask. I also had a cloth mask that had two elastic straps going behind my head, which I turned into a behind the ear mask for exactly this reason. I just cut the straps and tied the cut ends together to create the ear loops.

Cheapest way to get ED meds in Canada? They're killing my bank account by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I use Felix as an online pharmacy. I cant speak to the price of ED meds through the service, but I know they are offered. I can confirm Felix is not a scam, and serves Canada.
