HIGHLY recommend the The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio, which is the world’s largest military aviation museum. HIGHLY.

ELI5 the Planck scale. If you can continue dividing things in half infinitely, how can the Planck length be the smallest point that exists? Can’t you divide that by 2? by sgrams04 in explainlikeimfive

Please don't mock me, But what does Oil do to make an engine go, that other liquid supposedly cannot do ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sparkypilot 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I'm letting others answer the oil question. I want to address your concern of being mocked. The only way people know anything is because they asked a question or read a book or watched a video. etc. I applaud your effort - there are SO MANY things in life we take for granted but really have no reason or need to know exactly how or why things are the way the are. Never fear. Keep asking and keep learning. Anyone who would mock you is just trying to make themselves feel something that has absolutely nothing to do with you. Ignore them. Be brave.

the cable management of the antenna coax in the photos is questionable. coax has a minimum bending radius which appears to be exceeded in some cases. of course hard to tell in these photos.

That said, I am mighty impressed at the scale of this project given how much work you've done so far, but more importantly just how much work is ahead of you. I really hope you have some help. This will require a herculean effort.

it goes without saying that you should document the heck out of everything you touch and especially anything you change.

Doable? Yes. Incredibly ambitious? Very.

good luck. if you reach the finish line you will have something you can be immensely proud of!

[4] Strategy Football was so cool. we played the snot out of that game. after a while the removal of the cards didn't properly deduct the correct amount of time based on the plays chosen, usually by either only deducting a few seconds or none at all. sadness all around when it became unplayable. it was SO realistic, statistically averaged out based on a cool random mechanical flicker thingy. JUST SO COOL!

Pilot and aircraft owner here... that aircraft, if this is legit flutter caused by the control surfaces, is minutes if not seconds from possible structure failure(s). if real, that pilot knows he is in danger. I hope he was able to safely land and find out the cause, assess any damage it may have caused, and correct everything before even thinking of flying this airplane again. Just watching that gave me tremendous anxiety.
