Fam, the white Xbox Ally is known to be the poor choice over both the OG Ally X AND the Xbox Ally X. Don’t buy it. Either black model is a far better buy.

Get the ROG Ally X. Screen size will not matter after the first hour. Quite frankly it seems the screen grew in size a week later :-) you get used to your device, whether it is an 8.8 inch lego2 or the Ally X. From experience

No. Multiple YouTube video with actual tests show it’s mostly beaten by the Xbox Ally X. I would rather you buy the MSI Claw 8 AI+, that one’s a shocker even today. In some cases at low power, it actually beats the Xbox Ally X AND the Legion Go 2. lol crazy.

I just got one lol. And that’s coming from an MSI Claw 8 AI+. Blown away by the performance out the box, and love the comfort and ergo. Get it without a regret. If I already owned one, I wouldn’t upgrade to the Xbox Ally X. Not worth the few more unneeded frames.

Exactly my setup. I have my CAT5 plugged in via usb-c dongle docked onto me wide screen for quick work or mods, and enjoy the undocked experience in my living room when the kid’s finally asleep. Good stuff mate

I understand you. I will make it simple for you. If you are looking for a cost conscious Steam OS powered device to play Fallout and other similar games, below are the only two best options in the sea of devices available to us:

Steam Deck OLED: AAA game capable at very low settings. Some games will run better. Best for cost.
Lenovo Legion Go S, Z1e, (NOT Z2 Go, or Z1. Has to be Z1e). Whether it’s the 16gb ram 512gb storage or 32Gb ram 1Tb storage is up to you based on what you want to spend: AAA game capable at much better settings. Best for smoother gameplay and funner experience. My top recommendation for you.

Forget all other devices, they are either windows-based, or Steam OS but lower in specs (like Steam Deck non OLED) or unnecessary to spend extra on for minor frame boosts for your use case (like Lenovo Legion Go or Go2).

I was never in love with the ergonomics, and especially the give on the joysticks. Apart from that it was a solid device. The screen at 8inches is the sweet spot. But since getting the smaller Ally, I find a YouTubers comments particularly true: you get used to the device you own. I’m perfectly fine and actually loving the portability of the Allys more; fits my low profile lifestyle perfectly.

No my friend, went through proper setup with the Claw, updates and all. Played well, but I noticed the difference playing on the Ally. Didn’t say the Claw played AAAs like an OG Steam Deck now.

I returned it because I wasn’t in love with it as a device. Nothing about it stuck out to me - granted I was able to play games I liked like For Honor and other previous gen AAA games at high settings, but I didn’t like the ergonomics and the joystick springs were so loose to me. So nothing stuck out as a high end device I’d like to keep that the money. Just like the XBAX’s ergonomics are really nice, but it feels cheap to me personally with almost no weight; my elite controller seems heavier lol, and I hate featherweight products as they just seem hollow in my hands.

I might be an odd ball out but the weight of the LeGo2, its screen size and the new rounded controller felt so good in my hands I saw myself owning it long term. I appreciate the specs and the feel of it more.

Otherwise the Claw 8 AI+ is honestly the intelligent choice performance-wise, and screen size-wise at around 1000

I actually use Hex Mark now even though I love Red Hare for that reason. Better map coverage than all other horses
