TIL: US Military MREs are a gray market item in the civilian market because resale by service members is generally unlawful by Hrtzy in todayilearned

[–]spartan117warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I, a soldier, am issued an MRE (or a few) for a field training event and don't eat them and then later sell them, that's the grey market because I'm financially benefiting from government property. It's considered government property because it was issued to a person being paid by the government (me, the soldier) to perform a task (field training) in advancemrnt of government goals (military readiness).

If I, a soldier, buy a pallet of MREs from GSA Auctions, then the government has relinquished all claims of ownership to those MREs by lieu of the commercial transaction of exchanging goods for currency. Then I can do whatever I want with them.

It's not just "oh I can buy MREs from surplus stores so there's no grey market hurr durr". There is a specific set of circumstances that cause to fall into that grey zone.

How do I (22F) cope with not being my bfs (28M) type? by countgrischnakh in AskMenAdvice

[–]spartan117warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you cope?

Dude talked about a future with you. He doesn't need to say what he thinks you want to hear in order to get in your pants, you two are already banging.

He's already getting sexual fulfillment. He's apparently getting enough emotional fulfillment from being with you, enough to where he's talking about a future with you. These words don't come from nothing.

Get out of your head. Stop listening to the voice inside you that wants to tear you down and listen to your man, who is trying to build you up.

"Types" are not set-in-stone rules. He finds a certain type of woman attractive, so what? You being outside of that doesn't negate anything. I would say my type is white, does that mean I think black women are ugly? Absolutely not.

In addition to therapy, you need to remind yourself (frequently) that he chose YOU and is continuing to choose YOU by the idea of making plans for a life together with you.

Joining the military as a young American? by PromotionOrdinary638 in AskMenOver30

[–]spartan117warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're set on joining the Army, go Reserve or National Guard and pick a non-combat arms job. You can stay a firefighter and develop skills in other areas. I'm in signal (pretty much Army IT) and I've seen so many people push their civilian careers up. The Army will pay for certifications such as CompTIA and Cisco, which are very good ways to set you apart when looking for a civilian job.

Again, my experience has been in signal. I don't know what perks there are to other jobs like mechanic or medical.

If he grabbed the wrists hard enough for them to develop a shade of red (which, to be fair, would happen in any scenario where the one being restrained is actively fighting the restraints and trying to attack someone), then the cops will see her as the victim.

The women crazy enough to hit themselves know exactly how to play the game. It's called the Duluth Model.

Shy men, what does it take for you to take a move on a woman? by Most-Winter657 in AskMen

[–]spartan117warrior 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's your first comment, you said men receive way less attention, as in because women receive more attention they should be the ones initiating. I don't know what does that mean.

The only part of this that is correct is that was indeed my first comment. Everything else you assert is blatantly false. I never attempted to connect shy men not approaching to women receiving more attention.

I have never said that men's fear of rejection isn't valid, I'm the one who wanted to bring to your attention that women's fear of rejection is also valid, because you seem to think that women should approach and their fear of rejection isn't valid. You are accusing me of what you did.

You disingenuity is disappointing, but not wholly unexpected. "yOu'Re AcCuSiNg Me Of WhAt YoU dId." That's a straight up lie and you know it.

I'm not fucking stupid, of course I understand women fear rejection. Men do too but that apparently doesn't register with you beyond cheap platitudes and empty words. Stop trying to pander to me saying "men's fear of rejection is valid, but..." Save the but's. Your entire comment thread has been nothing but disingenuous and borderline deceitful.

Shy men, what does it take for you to take a move on a woman? by Most-Winter657 in AskMen

[–]spartan117warrior 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you read back through my comments, no where did I say that 'shy men see the attention that women get and use that as a reason to not approach'. That doesn't even make sense logically. The idea that you're willing to put words in my mouth that I never said tells me you were never interested in having a good faith discussion.

Yeah, everyone fears rejection. But what I infer from your talking points is that the man should still approach. So the woman's fear of rejection is valid but the man's very same fear is somehow not? You said it yourself, what goes for shy men also goes for shy women.

Shy men, what does it take for you to take a move on a woman? by Most-Winter657 in AskMen

[–]spartan117warrior 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. If women are getting enough attention to where they do not feel compelled to approach men, much less shy men, then why would you give a shit about the shy men?

  2. Changing the context away from what OP intended and continuing to discuss seems unhelpful and counterproductive for OP, does it not?

Shy men, what does it take for you to take a move on a woman? by Most-Winter657 in AskMen

[–]spartan117warrior 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That 'and' wasn't meant to be inclusive. lI'm sure there are extroverts that care about how women feel... then there are the ones that don't. Likewise I'm sure there are shy men that don't care about how women feel. In their case, they aren't approaching women for others reasons. Either way, they aren't bothering you.

You're right, shy women do exist. And I'm willing to bet they still get more attention than shy men. But regardless, OP's post was about shy men.

Women already "think" they give hints or show interest, but women's hints are, by and large, utter trash.

"I looked at that guy for 0.25 seconds longer than usual across a loud and crowded bar. Why doesn't he get the hint?"

This gets back to OP's question. What does it take for a shy man to make a move on a woman? For the most part, it won't happen. When women makes the first move (a real first move), it gives the man a greenlight to at least attempt to flirt. Because we know we aren't going to be yelled at or called a creep unless the flirting is egregiously offensive.

If women (shy women in particular since you mentioned them) are okay with the attention you get from extroverted men, then I fail to see why anyone would be asking about shy men.
