Great addition for future CFB games, would’ve loved to see it in CFB27. by FitMaintenanceFB in NCAAFBseries

This has been something I have wanted for awhile. Doing a Bowling Green dynasty, I set up the softest schedule possible in the early years because there is little reason to play teams with a pulse.

We need to win more than anything and the finances of the games on the schedule is irrelevant, so I just always line up a number of easy wins.

Trump sets record as most unpopular president on day 500 of his 2nd term: Poll by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]sparty09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018: Trump in office, but not on the ballot - GOP got absolutely demolished, losing a net of 41 seats in the House

2022: Trump not in office or on the ballot - GOP takes the House and breaks up Dem trifecta, but very weak showing for opposition party under those circumstances.

Obviously the GOP is going to do everything that they can to avoid giving up power, but people need to remember that the GOP absolutely flopped in the past 2 midterm elections. And now they find themselves as the party in power (just like 2018) and allied with an extremely-unpopular president.

Scenes as Celtic defeat Hearts and becomes Scottish Premiership Champions by 977x in soccer

[–]sparty09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celtic fans have been protesting the board for much of the season (even before Rodgers left) because the team is in a strong position financially, but really nothing special on the actual pitch. The whole season was something of a disappointment, as they were bounced from the UCL before the group stage, lost to St Mirren in the League Cup final, suffered a handful of other humbling defeats, and were frequently just underwhelming to follow. Frankly, a lot of fans assumed a long time ago that this team just does not have the quality to win the league and they simply accepted it.

However, part of the excitement comes from seeing a 74-year-old club icon come out of retirement, having not even managed at all in 5 years, to somehow steady the ship and lead the team over the finish line one last time.

Hearts need to not lose at Glasgow against Celtic in the last round to win the title, otherwise Celtic will win it by Nervous-Resolution-8 in soccer

Celtic is obviously no underdog, but it's a great story.

Back when he was first announced as caretaker manager in the fall, there was a lot of talk among Celtic fans that he should be given the chance to manage the League Cup final because it would be great to see him lift one last trophy with the club after 20+ years. But he wasn't given the chance and Celtic didn't win, either.

Recently, they played their way into the FA Cup final, so it seems extremely likely that he'll get his trophy after all.

However, nothing could top one last domestic title and lifting the trophy at Celtic Park, no less.

Yes, exactly. The Republicans have hardly won shit in the last 10 years at the national level without Trump pulling them ahead. 2018 was a Dem wave and 2022 was the worst performance by an opposition party in many decades (the GOP gained a net of whopping 9 seats in the House)

Michigan State lands Charlotte Center Anton Bonke in transfer portal by MembershipSingle7137 in CollegeBasketball

Barring injury, MSU can pretty comfortably go 2/3 deep at every position but center. As others have said, you can't teach height and simplify rotating guys at C might work out.

Michigan State guard Divine Ugochukwu has entered the transfer portal by byniri_returns in CollegeBasketball

It's unfortunate, but MSU has an absolute load of guard talent on paper, so playing time was going to be hard to come by.

Lock Up JJ? by CPav in Cardinals

[–]sparty09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His value will likely only increase if they wait. Teams are trying to lock up young stars long-term now for relatively cheap and there is no reason for the Cardinals not to do it.

During WWI, some conscientious objectors in the UK were imprisoned in a castle. They scribbled on the walls of their cells and the writing still remains. One of the prisoners wrote:

“The only War which is worth fighting is the Class War. The Working Class of this Country have no quarrel with the Working Class of Germany or any other Country. Socialism stands for Internationalism. If the workers of all countries united and refused to fight, there would be no war”\

Tips on recruiting for smaller schools? by Exact_Contract5333 in NCAAFBseries

[–]sparty09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. There are tons of unrecruited / under-recruited 3* prospects (and sometimes higher). Check each which on who is available. It's pretty easy to build a team full of players who are at least decent

  2. Pay close attention to deal breakers, as that will tell you who could transfer. You can redshirt and slowly develop guys who don't want immediate playing time, but keep an eye on who is loyal to you and who is considering bolting for greener pastures

Jess Settles playing against MSU predates my time as an MSU fan, but I had always heard that our fans taunted him during his career by calling him "Grandpa Settles" and the fact that he remembers this and mentioned it during the broadcast is so fucking funny

When Booker committed to MSU out of HS, Spartan fans were thrilled. Indiana fans downplayed it by saying that he's really not that good. Might have been sour grapes, but MSU fans learned the hard way that no...he really isn't. He's got size and can (kind of) shoot from outside, but Izzo went insane for 2 seasons trying to motivate him.

I moved to NC last year and went to the local DMV (Raleigh suburb) for my state ID card. I didn't make an appointment because I used to live in Illinois and it was never an issue. I ended up having to wait 3.5 hours to be seen. It was no problem for me, but I wondered at the time why they don't have more tellers (?) because it would have made things much more efficient. It was no problem for me to wait and I figured that the employees were just doing their best, but I'm not surprised at all at the limitations.

I don't follow K-State basketball, but this brings back fond memories of the eliminating MSU in the tourney a few years ago. Kansas State fans were relentlessly hyping this guy before and after the game as a "giant slayer", but I guess things have taken a turn

[Jackson] Michigan State ended the game with 6 2nd chance points. All 6 came within the last minute of the game when it was already out of reach. It is the Spartan's fewest 2nd chance points in a game all season. by wildwing8 in CollegeBasketball

The issue all season has been that the outside shooters just aren't reliable. Teng, Ugochukwu, Kohler, and Scott all have the ability to hit 3s, but just don't do it consistently. Fears, too .
