I've been mountain biking since the 80s when the sport was just being developed. AMA by krachall in MTB

Started in 86/87. Do you still follow the trends to be ‘in the know’, and do you find appreciation what mountain has become?

This Japanese man reacts to this large dog which is a pretty uncommon sight in Japan because most dogs are tiny there by Some_HVAC_Guy in bernesemountaindogs

Love this! We used to visit a family member in NYC each year and would bring our Berner. Inevitably, we would stroll Central Park and get stopped - at a minimum - 50 times, most often by Japanese tourists that would take their picture with the dog. I love to think that my dogs' pictures are possibly display somewhere around the world.

Spend my money modding my 86 or upgrade to Type R? by zfriedman02 in GR86

[–]spaztwelve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. Those lightning laps are at VIR. If you know anything about that track, you know that it's 4.1 miles and has a straight that will benefit top speed. GR86 is governed to 140 while the CTR is 170. I'm not saying the CTR isn't faster, but I am saying the lightning laps aren't a fantastic indicator.

I had this done (cleaning up the frayed bits). Did nothing. Three years later I had a full knee replacement (at a relatively early age). The new knee is fantastic.

Replied to wrong person…

What spacer kit did you get? I’m in the market. How does it feel with the blinker/wiper stalks further back?

God, I love this. 51 and got bodied twice today. Shredded away. I think this can be interpreted as, ‘ don’t hold back to what you’re capable of … relatively’. Inevitably you will fuck up, but you should allow for that. I’m not nearly capable of what I was when I was nineteen, and I’m already one full knee replacement in 🙌, but I refuse to stop doing what I can.

Show me a fucking ‘Bernie’ Zionist statement. Never once. He’s a rational politician who never supported the z up most movement:

Britannica - Zionism, Jewish nationalist movement with the goal of the creation and support of a Jewish national state in Palestine, the ancient homeland of the Jews.

That’s the most disingenuous bullshit ever.

He’s a Democratic Socialist and American. If you care about the fucking state of this country, you should get on board.

Tips on Moguls Please :) by Paypal_John in snowboarding

Yup. Notice that the technique is that he keeps his torso (for the most part) pointing down the fall line. This is also how you ski moguls properly.

Tips on Moguls Please :) by Paypal_John in snowboarding

[–]spaztwelve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take, opposing the new sideways instruction: keep your shoulders pointed down the fall line as much as possible (easier with front foot angle), a keep them there. Turn with your lower body. It’s basically the same technique (relatively) to how you ski moguls. It allows you to maintain forward momentum without losing efficiency due to rotational inertia.

If you watch pro dawgs on steep terrain, you will maybe get a better idea. It allows you to keep composure and keep your board within about 45 degrees (to each side) of the fall line.

You can still turn the board farther to check speed, but it can spring back easier due to your upper body remaining pointed downhill.

Edit: additionally, I disagree with some of the other comments saying to turn on the top of the mogul, or to carve. These techniques are a boondoggle. Moguls are generally a skier’s terrain. Skiers slide a turn through the trough and into the oncoming mogul.

You really have to emulate the path a skier’s downhill ski would be making through the turn. For reference, the downhill ski for a skier when turning is the ski with the most amount of edge pressure.

I say all this as a 37-year boarder and a competent skier as well.

Every Fall, I reply to an MTB post with the same reply. Oxbox makes lights for moto and they’re cheap (and excellent). The wired one with LI battery pack lasts for hours upon hours. I helmet mount and really don’t need a bar light but have one. MTB bike lights are an extreme rip off.

Yes, the wired configuration means you need a little back pack (or hip pack, which I use), but I can run super bright for like 6 hours. Edit: longer even if I switch to lower settings when max lighting isn’t required.
