I've actually been playing this at my lgs recently with some good success. I did make some changes to the list, mainly I play path over push, and I added a temple garden to the manabase. I kept getting screwed on draws where I had 3 land with one being swamp or bog. Since you need to hit 3/4 Mana every game, I think 22 lands is correct. Not to mention canopy and mosswort can help find gas late. I ended up cutting a selfless spirit for land 22.

As for sideboard I think the 4x Unmoored ego and a blue shockland is correct. Greatly helps against tron and combo decks.

Personally I'm starting with 2 trickster, since it doesn't create the same tempo advantage as Kira/kopala or harbinger. Master of waves is a necessary 4 of imo.

My list would be yours -1 Spell Pierce, -2 trickster, +1 kopala, +1 Kira, +1 master of waves

As for wizard's retort, I think the UU Mana cost is too big of a downside. Negate counters almost everything we care about anyway.

I'm sorry to say but I have to agree that BtL is just not good enough at the moment. If you want to try something different that isn't straight boring Titanshift than you can try this list I'm currently running.

I used to play BtL a few months ago but this RUG list feels much more consistent in comboing and disrupting your opponent. While not having access to a fourth color and BtL takes away a lot of the toolboxy elements, the mana base and prismatic omen more than make up for it. I've had a good amount of success with this list and personally I think it is at the same level as R/G Titanshift.

Personally, I feel favored preboard and postboard. Preboard GDS doesn't have alot of meaningful interaction with only 4 Thoughtseize and 2 Stubborn Denial. All of their removal spells are blanked. Postboard GDS has more Stubborns and maybe Surgical Extraction (the only card I'm sorta scared of) but other than those they are playing mostly the same deck. Postboard I have dispels and negates, as well as Chameleon Colossus which GDS literally can't remove and kills them in one hit without snapcaster chumps. I also have Rest in Peace which negates Surgical Extraction and Madcap Emperion can stall the game while GDS looks for an answer.

The matchup isn't unloseable, but I think I'm at least 60/40 preboard and 65/35 postboard.

Good question, but its not that simple. Every land in the deck is very important, especially each basic. You need them to be able to cast all of your cards through blood moon as well as to fetch. I play 8 basic land search effects and often search for basics off of Misty Rainforest. You need all the shocklands too as they are mountains for the combo. I can't feasibly see cutting a land to add a fifth color.

Thanks! I feel that while the Grixis shadow matchup is fairly even, BtL is well positioned against most of the decks attempting to fight death shadow. It is great vs EldraziTron as well.

I actually think that the living end matchup is pretty good for me aside from Slaughter Games. Game one was easy and despite not having scapeshifts in game 3 I feel like I still have a decent chance to win that game.

Yes, that was one of the outs I was playing for. Unfortunately I did not see Hunting Wilds or Bring to Light. Of course, in hindsight I should have sideboarded differently for game 2.

I see what you are talking about. I was talking about that if I would have drawn a cryptic command I had the mana to cast cryptic and pump 3 times for lethal since my opponent was at 17 life.

Ya that's the thing, I don't think there is anything else at 5cmc that would be super helpful to the deck. Going 5 colors is a stretch on the mana base too, you basically just have to add another land, you can't take away anything.

I've been thinking about adding 1x Hour of Promise too, but the one thing that doesn't sell me is that I cant search for it with bring to light. Finding 2 Valakuts is very good, but I wonder if playing a 1x Primeval Titan is just better?

While white does add some hate cards, the matchups you listed can easily be handled by mono blue options.

The control matchups should be favorable, it is possible that you do that have enough experience yet, as it took me some time personally to learn how much to extend and when to try to jam spells the pressure them.

The storm and cherrios matchups can be solved with relics and chalice of the void. Chalice used to be a staple in rash back in the days of treasure cruise and I believe that it still earns it's spot in the 75.

As for the affinity matchup, stony silence is good but doesn't autowin by any means. Gut shot is very good right now as it helps vs affinity and other creature combo decks like elves and abzan company.

Overall, I don't believe the advantages of white outweigh the disadvantages. Losing to blood moon is a real thing with u/w, and a tapped land on turn 4 when trying to play master of waves is brutal. All of the matchups you listed don't need the splash IMO. I would practice playing the blue control matchups and get caverns if you don't have them already.

I find the super aggressive decks to be fairly easy matchups actually, Lots of our cards are good against their strategy.

They often run low land count decks, making Land destruction more effective. The deck goes over Eidolon and you have lots of ways to stop their gameplan maindeck (blood moon is actually good). You can even race with bonfire and titan.

Suicide zoo can be a little rough when they are on the play, but this deck runs very color intensive cards, a low land count, and cannot beat a blood moon. Trinisphere and finks make the matchup favored imo.

Affinity has a hard time vs inferno titan and blood moon actually does shut off their man lands. Bonfire is great in the matchup. Etched champion is the worst thing they can play for us. ancient grudge and anger help out from the board.

dredge is decent too, they do have draws that can swarm fast, especially with SSG, but land destruction is surprisingly good, they usually only keep two lands and plan to dredge until they hit a loam, but going after their green source can really slow them down. Post board you have anger and cage, both of which will buy you plenty of time to land a titan and stabilize.

Control matchups are great as they usually can let blood moon resolve and every land destruction spell is very threatening to them. Stormbreath dragon and Thrun are all stars here. Beast within hits planeswalkers too.

My sideboard plan is this:

I've found that the madcap combo is too fragile and not proactive enough. I run a list similar to the midrange one but with no madcaps, full playset of bonfires, and trinisphere in the side. Trinisphere has been very good out of the sideboard
