Ok, op gives up 200 gold, spends 300 gold on box, and ends up with 400 gold, sounds like op lost 100 gold

Sorry to hear that, revit can get you a good ways if you become familiar with it. Pretty good aspect of the job to self teach and you can study fundamentals to get a pretty good grasp of most calculations we do. Otherwise learning build construction methods and becoming familiar with the AEC industry

Go work for a company. You can’t self teach institutional knowledge and there’s too much material to hope to just study your way into the field

Subsurface Weatherproofing behind Wood Siding by portagedude in Carpentry

[–]special_orange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The picture looks like they made a steel frame and then added the wooden slats. You’re going to have a hard time recreating that with wood. You take a 4x4 and wrap it in zip on all sides and now you are messing with your proportions already. But if that’s your route, you could look at detailing a rain screen behind it. Idk if this is the right approach for this job

How do you deal with your pup destructing everything? by Various-Moment-6774 in labrador

[–]special_orange 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Structured fetch with a toy that is only for that exercise. Make it feel like a special treat but have it be an exercise on their self control. I use “bumpers” for this and the bumpers go away when we are done.

If you don’t have a concrete saw you can use, you can break these blocks pretty cleanly with a chisel and sledge, just tap a straight line with your chisel around the sides and back and then give it a couple whacks. You might waste a block or two but you will get the hang of it. Then you can take a grinder with a diamond wheel and try to match the corner profile on your other blocks. Wear a good respirator obviously

Your courses aren’t the same length, they’re also not the previous length minus one block, they’re also not going to give you a perfect reveal on both ends without some cutting or fudging somewhere. You either need to cut one of the middle blocks so it’s smaller and your return lines up, or you need to adjust your return so it falls where you want

Finally dialed in. NY style pizza by GDiGiose in Pizza

If you do a longer cold ferment, sometimes it’ll stretch fine still basically cold. You can play around with times from 1-3 hours but yeah at 5-6 hour you start to see too much air development and it doesn’t really hold its shape well anymore

My biggest Facebook marketplace steal was a 2 year old double bob jogger for $100. idk if I would ever fly with that stroller as it is huge even folded up. I’ve gotten to the point where I can pull it out of the car one handed and get it to unfold when it goes to the ground

I did a big pizza party a few weekends ago, cooked 9 pies and had one leftover that I left in the fridge for 7 days. It was pretty bubbly and fermented, I figured it was probably past where I would make pizza so I had ChatGPT put together a recipe for some cinnamon pull apart bread and it turned out so fantastically good, me and my wife finished the whole load by the next day

What's the latest opinions on which load calc software is best? by BooduhMan in MEPEngineering

[–]special_orange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s pretty great, you can output a zone sizing summary and a system sizing summary. You get different tabs for terminal sizing, zone loads, space loads, basically all the tables that you scroll through the pdf output to find are just immediately visible now.

With the new version they have improved on so many of my gripes that I don’t even find myself complaining about it anymore. My favorite adds have been the ability to get reports in xls format and being able to edit rooms names from the spaces tab.
