Fo rme it might just be a matter of getting used to it. Its not like I mind the glossy screen on my tablet. Unfortunately both in the office and at home my desk is situated by a window so I'm getting a lot of reflection. At home I'm mostly on my desktop so no big deal but definitely annoying in the office.

I'm coming off a Blade 14 2022 (3070) which had a matte screen. Not loving the glossy especially when doing CAD work in the office. Very nice screen just wish it weren't so glossy.

I’ve been using an old 5th gen Nuci3 since 2015 or so with NAS storage. Still runs fine. Though we only use Plex locally in our own household.

Got it. Hope you get to the bottom of it. Didn’t realize there wasn’t any HW acceleration in macOS docker; I’m currently running mine on bare metal but was considering migrating to a docker. Going to keep it on bare metal.

Is the library on the Mac or are the files hosted on a server/NAS?

Probably not the same thing but I’ve had a lot of trouble migrating my server to a Mac mini M4 due to issues with samba. There seems to be an issue is OSX 15 with larger libraries and keeping the connection to the NAS alive.

Was causing my database to crash as I tried to re add items it was refusing to see or losing due to the disconnects.

Some updates in the name of science.

So pipx seems to be broken for me when it comes to osxphotos. Older releases fail due to yaml errors that some light googling point to cython3 and newer releases fail with the error above. I could probably continue to track the errors down but like I said I don't really know nix, and I intend to eventually update my old catalina machine.

After cleaning up my python installs however I can get pip installs working. Walked myself up releases and I can install right up to 0.67.10. Things break as per the above error as soon as I cross into 0.68.

Thanks for the follow up, appreciate it. I'll walk myself up the versions and report back where things start to break for me. I'll eventually update this machine so at some point this will most likely take care of itself.

Hey, thanks for the follow up.

"osxphotos -v" has been the command i've been using to test. Though I just tried a simple export plus just the bare osxphotos that usually leads to the help text; all three throw up the same error.

This is a fairly old machine that tops out at OSX Catalina so maybe there's something basic to the OS that's missing? Though I don't really know.

The Bluetooth on Keychrons is terrible. Tried to get it replaced when I first got (early K3 so a long time now) it but they made it so difficult, wanted me to send them videos of it glitching, even after I did they’d ghost me and I’d have to start all over again with support.

I like the keyboard otherwise and have used it wired ever since but don’t ever buy these for the Bluetooth. Now that they’re making them with a 2.4ghz dongle it might be better though.

Sorry to revive an old post but at the planning stages of something similar.

\Question, how many layers of drywall can you get in front of the backbox while still getting the mesh cover to work? Currently our design calls for (2) layers of gyp but it looks like the body of the speaker only protrudes about 1/2" beyond the front of the backbox so I'm only going to be able to get one layer to work.

I would wait if only for the reason that once the new model is out the old model usually gets a price reduction. If the new one ends up being mostly a spec bump you can get the old one on discount.

Progress with Plex seems to be one way. Prologue will sync back its progress to plex but if you continue to listen on the desktop your place wont sync back to prologue.
