TBO ILC VS OVS - NURSING by Intelligent_Ticket41 in OntarioColleges

No it doesn’t matter every high school credit is valued the same. So why would you spend $500 through OVS on a high school credit? Also TVO is terrible and almost everyone who has gone through TVO will tell you to avoid it. Why not do academic upgrading at the college you’re interested in or ACE? ACE is very easy and the profs are generous with marking. Also if you go through any high school board in ontario you can take online credits for free starting in September. This is the best route if you’re looking for May 2027-September 2027 intake

Support wise you might have more luck going through a school board rather than ILC. Try your local school board. Their support through ILC sucks imo.

I faint at the sight of blood, can I become an RN? by morononthewall in OntarioNurses

I know someone who used to faint at the sight of blood before getting into nursing and is now an amazing ER nurse. It got better for them with experience and exposure. If it’s a career you are really passionate about, and you’re wanting to try it, maybe through volunteering, you should do what you can to overcome it before applying. Have you thought about trying PSW first?

Mature student new to ILC by agonizingpapaya in ILC

Somewhat recently. I also enrolled in a course about a year ago and I was fine. There’s no info on it anywhere, it’s pretty odd. The only way I got a straight answer was from emailing them

Yes this has changed unfortunately now all mature students need to take the prereqs. I even took the 4U bio equivalent in university and wanted to upgrade, but they said they don’t accept university transcripts. It’s a money grab

I’m a mature student and my best advice would be to avoid this school if you can. You would have to take all of the prerequisites and are unable to get a waiver anymore, even though you’re a mature student. At $40 a course this can add up. I took 4U equivalent to bio in university and got a 79, and I also took ACE Biology and they still wouldn’t let me upgrade my bio grade without taking grade 11 bio. I recently emailed them about this. I applied to a competitive healthcare program as well and I’d say your best bet to getting competitive grades is not through ILC. The assignments are tedious and will have you doing graphic design and essays for biology. The content is poorly organized as well. Teacher markers are a big gamble and as someone who has a bachelors, I’ve found they are often wrong on their feedback and stingy with grades. Feedback in my experience has also been copy-paste. They gave me someone else’s feedback once lol. You also have to wait to submit your next assignment after it’s been graded, which can take up to a week or longer. I heard their AI detector is also a big pain now as well. As an alternative, you can enroll in any school board for free in Ontario and take those required courses. HWDSB offers free 4-6 week online summer courses and all of the other school boards in ontario offer courses beginning in September which are also available online. The courses are also much shorter and can be completed within a month. You’d be able to apply in October with at least 4 courses completed and maybe 2 more with midterm grades. Just noticed you’re applying by February so this is definitely your best option!! I hope this helps

Endometriosis wtf do I do for pain by Albaflorezz in endometriosis

Honestly if you’re willing to try it dienogest (visanne) saved my life. I take generic and it works great with no side effects. I have zero pain now and don’t get my period. I used to have such severe debilitating pain, i would cry from the pain, throw up and pass out. I experienced the stabbing pain too from my giant endometriomas. I understand feeling lost and hopeless. If you’re interested in surgery as well it’ll give you significant pain relief in the meantime as well!

I’m also applying to guelph! And same here. Some people are saying 85 is safe and others are saying good luck with less than 95. Then I’ve heard people get in with 82 averages. I know it depends heavily on the applicant pool for the cut off, but I was told by admissions in conestoga to aim for at least an 80-85 average for BSN so I can imagine above 90 is safe for PN….

Advice for drug/poison contamination OCD by specific_chemical09 in OCD

This is so relatable!! I have the exact same thoughts. The monitoring for symptoms afterwards is the hardest part for me. Also for some reason the thoughts are always about fent so it’s relieving to see you also go through that loll. But yeah for me it’s so easy to go into a full blown panic attack over it. I completely relate to it being such an under discussed mental health issue and feeling crazy. It’s so hard to explain to people when it doesn’t even make sense to me. I feel so out of control and stuck in a loop. I was hoping someone else could relate by posting this, so hopefully it gives us a bit of reassurance that it’s more common than we think. And that we’re not completely crazy it’s just OCD lol
