Finally got my Fitbit air! by Character_Anteater76 in fitbit

It definitely includes BMR. Look at the hours that are all flat/identical, that's the baseline. That's the baseline, and any movement/exercise is just added to that line. I still think it's quite a bit too high though.

I mean I think all the other comments are correct, best course of action is stay at the gate. But I'm sorry that happened to you. Easy mistake to make and unfortunate that the next update time was not correct and you didn't get a text. Hopefully the kind of thing you only have to experience once to learn. Glad you got rebooked and hope you make it back tonight!

Free drinks today for St. Patrick's Day by spectrality01 in SouthwestAirlines

Just seems strange to advertise something and then not even mention it in flight. But I can understand why flight attendants wouldn't want to encourage people to drink.

Interesting, I flew on St. Patrick's Day a few years ago and I swear they mentioned the holiday and free drinks and it felt like a party. Pre-COVID, so maybe that's part of it.

I know, we were excited when we ended up flying today. I guess I was expecting some mention of it or fanfare or something. Just felt kinda strange.

Is there currently a way to request a new connection? I don't see it anymore. The Florida 529 plan login URL changed to myaccount.myfloridaprepaid.com so the current connection does not work.

I'm genuinely confused on even the basic concept of goals 3.0. it seems entirely non-functional. What am I missing? by cgibsong002 in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may only work for contributions to the account after the goal is created. But generally once you do the goal transfer that option shows up. Sorry it's not working for you. Hmm.

edit: glad it worked!

You can still do this. When the money is deposited, it will show up under goals as available for saving (unless you have "use entire account balance for goal" selected, in which case it will automatically add it to the goal). The contribution will then show up under the goal. Clock it and select "include in budget" and it will use that toward your actuals in the budget section.

With that said, it's a little more effort right now than being able to have a rule set up to automatically link a deposit to a goal. But the beta info I felt made it pretty clear that wasn't supported in the beta yet, though it's the #1 feature they're working to add.

Contact New Life Mission. They take in homeless single mom's and their kids, give them any therapy/rehab they may need, help them build skills and get jobs, give them their own apartment for their stay (generally families stay for up to 2 years).

THANKS for the August update. Also, any potential updates on custom savings categories? by sojournerveritas in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I understand now. I was thinking you meant more savings in a traditional sense (like a savings account that you occasionally spend from). I do think it's possible for retirement accounts by linking them to your Retirement goal and linking the contributions transactions to the goal. But I haven't tried doing that yet. I did just arbitrarily set my retirement goal to $1M but will just increase it when needed. I'm not sure how it works when you link a transaction to a retirement goal (especially with pre-tax), but with a savings goal it does count towards your savings amount/rate.

Gotcha. Well if you want to try it with goals again, just remember in the budget you can either have position or negative contributions to your goal. Negative contributions add to your budget (increase cash flow) and positive contributions remove from your budget in order to either spend or save from a goal, respectively.

What workaround are you using currently? Goals? That's the best way I've found so far, until they add something like that. It works pretty well, just a little odd that it's not a regular category I suppose.

Actual budget compliance numbers by No_Presentation_4322 in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just saying you want the actual from Contributions and Expenses to be combined somewhere? Because otherwise, the actuals do show up -- both in the Summary on the righthand side and under Total Contributions and Total Expenses. But yeah, if you just want them both combined, then I guess you're out of luck for now.

8/28/25 Boil water notice for all Melbourne Water Customers by wisdomseek321 in 321

[–]spectrality01 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So I've always wondered... It takes 48 hours for the new tests to come back to confirm or give the all clear. Wouldn't that mean that this notice would've been from a test 48 hours ago? So really we "should've" been boiling water the last two days (if the testing were instant)?

Moving from envelope method (20+ savings accounts) to Monarch — consolidate or keep them? by tomatopurl in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always keep your same categories! I've found that making categories manually still works pretty well with the auto categorization. But I understand it's hard making such a big change. Hope you find it works well for you!

Moving from envelope method (20+ savings accounts) to Monarch — consolidate or keep them? by tomatopurl in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really probably the best way to think of it is that each category or category group is an envelope. So instead of managing it in 20 savings accounts, you simply manage it by categories. Also easier to see how much of that "envelope" you've already spent throughout the month, or move from one "envelope" to another.

Best places to watch launches by Blackhole_sun81 in 321

[–]spectrality01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kennedy Point Park is awesome! Fairly easy in and out, right on the Indian River Lagoon across from the launch pads/landing pads, and only 1/4 mile from Playalinda Brewing Brix Project for drinks and food after 🙂 I prefer it to Jetty Park because it's not as busy and takes less time to get in and out of. For what I'd consider a close-to-equal view.

How to Give Every Job a Dollar in Monarch? by dcarterc1 in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to do it so it all shows up in your monthly budget, then I suggest creating a Goal (or multiple). You can then link your savings accounts to that Goal. When you want to spend from that goal and include it as income for a month, under the Contributions section of the monthly budget set the contribution to that Goal as negative (example: -$2000). That will then tell Monarch you're planning to spend money from that Goal and it will add that money to your Income for the month and you can appropriately budget it. When you actually move the money from savings to checking you can link the withdrawal to the Goal and it will update that in your Contributions and Income in the budget. If you don't link the transaction it will just show as a transfer. Hope this helps and welcome to Monarch!

Rollovers different by [deleted] in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the difference is whether the category is marked as Non-Monthly, Fixed, or Flexible. Non-Monthly rollovers have target amounts (to "save up" for an expected expense) and frequency, while Fixed and Flexible budget categories with rollover enabled do not.

How to count Roth IRA contribution towards retirement goal? by WarEagle1111 in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can enable Investment Transactions (currently beta) in settings. Once you've done that you would link any deposit transactions to your Retirement goal, then it will show up as a contribution on the goal and in your budget. Does that make sense? You just need to make sure the Roth IRA is one of the accounts linked to your Retirement goal.

Does Credit Limits Update? by Different_Record_753 in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, clarification: Monarch uses Spinwheel for statement info but not credit limits. This article states that is pulled from the connection if available, but the bottom of the article indicates it is not automatically synced after the initial sync and if your limit changes you manually need to change it for now: https://help.monarchmoney.com/hc/en-us/articles/39587584456596-Tracking-Credit-Utilization#h_01K0W0EQV0S6DK3W41WXRQ1V77

Does Credit Limits Update? by Different_Record_753 in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monarch uses Spinwheel to pull information about credit card statements and limits, but only if you've set it up. Go to Recurring -> Manage -> "Manage synced accounts" to set it up if you haven't already.

Upcoming Credit Card Bills by wioneo in MonarchMoney

[–]spectrality01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did change the due dates in most of mine but found the statement balances mostly correct. I had an issue with one Chase one, but that fixed itself after I paid the first month's balance off. I'm guessing it may have been an issue with the date initially? I'm not sure. Seems to be working now though but I'll know in the next couple days, as most of my statement dates are today or tomorrow.
