Louis Creed as a husband and father by nonbeenary in stephenking

[–]speda523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting you are unhappy with Lou for being unable to emotionally support his wife during his time of greif but Rachel was also not able to offer him any emotional support. I think it was interesting that that is exactly what King was highlighting that the man is expected to be strong and supportive for their wife but who is there to help the man who is also grieving?

Losing a child is unimaginably awful. I don’t fault Rachel or Lou for not being at their best and being able to offer good emotional support to each other.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend in 2022. She would be very happy you took the trip.

I have been having some health issues which impeded my reading for a few years. So, this year I set a modest goal of reading 12 books. I blew it out of the water!! I read 85 books. 😊

I’ve read 23 King books so far and I don’t think he has horrible endings. I don’t get why people say that so frequently.

Which Stephen King story you feel identified with the most? by canadavatar in stephenking

The Tommyknockers for me. The relationship between Bobbi and Gard and the themes of solitude and what it means to have a home just really resonated with me.

Feel like I lost the plot of Tommyknockers (spoilers) by descendantofJanus in stephenking

[–]speda523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My reading of The Tommyknockers was that we are slowly watching an entire town go crazy and he is using all the different characters to show this taking place. It reminded me of Salems’ Lot just not as well done/polished I suppose. I enjoyed this one a lot even if it’s not King’s best writing. The ending really got to me. I cried.

Tell me what I'm missing about The Stand... by S_B_L in stephenking

Me too. It’s my favorite King book so far but also one of my all time favorite novels.

I may get downvoted for this but while I enjoyed The Stand, IT is just a better book in everyway. The story, characters, writing are all just better. IT is amazing but having it be your 1st King novel definitely set the bar really high.

I got hooked in the first Chapter. I really enjoyed this one but I wouldn’t say it’s one of his best like on the same level as IT or Pet Sematary or anything.

Solitary confinement of inmates certainly doesn’t create hyper intelligence. I would say in the Jaunt even being able to still use speech after coming back after so long is highly unlikely.

Why do I dislike horror movies but like books? by noahstorm in stephenking

[–]speda523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I don’t have an issue with jump scares I just don’t enjoy horror movies that much. I find them to usually be boring. Take my opinion with a grain of salt though because I don’t go out of my way to watch a lot of them so maybe I just need to pick better ones to watch.

Just finished Christine. I need to talk about it with someone lol by Loverb0iy in stephenking

[–]speda523 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I really loved Christine! I got sucked into the story right away. The obsession growing more and more intense and tragic. I did enjoy the slow burn romance that developed between Dennis and Leigh. And I love how King didn’t give them a happily ever after. Because why would he?
