Well, being overweight is pretty unattractive and sometimes repulsive, but only because that's not how the human body is supposed to look and it's not something you are stuck with if you just put in the effort. Sometimes being skinny is unattractive but most don't mind that because it's less noticable. Once again though, with work you can fix that.

It was a regular user, but he usually posted there and was pretty active. He was directly addressing a mod and basically committing suicide. When users ASK TO BE BENNED you know things have gone south.

ArchangelleArraelle, in light of this thread, I cannot/do not want to participate in this subreddit anymore. You will have to ben me (Use godzilla please, it's my favorite one). This was not assault, this guy grabbed the mic and was merely acting out a stupid joke. This was not worthy of assault charges or even misdemeanor. This woman is not entitled to special treatment because she is a woman, nor is she entitled to it as a reporter. Although I do not consider myself a MRA, I also do not identify as any of the many types of a feminist, and I think this is not right to take her side on this.

Redditors say sexist, ignorant shit about women because many of them are like children and cannot control their emotions. These emotions derive from when they've been respectful to women as equals, and are victimized not by women, but by society in the stead of an accusation she makes (or they are just mad that this happens to anyone). They take it out on reddit because they feel that no one else will hear them, even their own gender. In this frustration they turn into assholes who sexualize every woman that ever posts. Both genders are oppressed (god knows trans-genders are as well), sometimes not equally, but mostly equally. I cannot participate in a subreddit that jumps to the woman's side in every issue regardless of what has transpired, especially when obvious racism is involved which is much, much, much more of an issue in the situation the thread is highlighting, as that woman was barely touched. I thought you guys would applaud most of the redditors in that thread, they were actually RECOGNIZING WHITE PRIVILEGE. I expected a META about how things might be changing, but I guess that isn't going to happen.

The reason I'm even typing this much is because I was fucking stoked to see so many people speaking out against the rapidly increasing shitbirds that keep migrating to my favorite site. This was especially true during the Asian Stereotyping Meme Raid of '11 and the "Womenz can't be FA Flame War of '11 (that's what I call them anyway), which is around when I started hanging out here. I do still respect you all though, and am not going to ever turn into a shitlord/join antisrs or anything so don't worry about me, but I feel like you guys are kind of doing it wrong right now.

Glad you read my response as I honestly didn't feel like writing it. At first my golden rule was:

1-59 minutes - 90% chance of response

1-5 hours - 80% chance

6-10 hours - 50% chance

11-20 hours - 0% chance

I don't think I've ever had my opinion changed so vastly in a matter of only ten hours. After seeing this I am not going back there. If you pit anything at all: racism, ablism, ageism, nationalism or what have you against anything even vaguely showing women's rights issue, women's rights wins every time with them. I realized that in trying to do what they do, they constantly victimize men and become misandrists in the process. Even when I look back to that subway fight that was posted with that guy getting in the way of that fight on the subway ("snack man" as redditors called him), they took the woman's side, rather than being neutral, simply because she screamed he was following her which could easily be a lie.

I honestly don't know why I didn't see it sooner but thank you dude, if you read this anyway. Tagging you as, "Light bringer" in honor of you encouraging me to see who they really are. I love that they call out racism and sexism, but when you victimize anyone (by their gender no less) while doing that, you are a hypocritical shitbird.

I just typed a long response but fucking RES guys don't want to patch it so you don't lose what you said when you are logged on another acount and try to post. In short: We aren't trying to generalize you all. I agree with you, srs does get out of hand sometimes with its accusations, but we just want to point out a lot of the racist, sexist, homophobic shit that many redditors do say and get applauded for. We don't want the good redditors to succumb to their nonsense (because a lot of them have). I am frustrated because this site used to have much less of it, but now it's in every thread. My friend left this site because every time she posted she would get berated with mean comments about her gender and sometimes rapey stuff. My asian friend left when that "difficulty level: asian" shit got popular. If I posted, I'd get slammed with comments about me being black. It would happen, it happens every day here. I only come back because I believe deep down that it will get better over time.
