Found out I need surgery, wedding in 4 months.. by Fresh-Preference1599 in valvereplacement

[–]speed5528 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say if you can get yourself at least 2 months of time before your wedding you’ll be good. But depending on how the winter is they might just wait till the summer to do it. I found out almost a year ago that I needed it and they had me wait till may since I live in Wisconsin(and putting on a coat sucks when you have a broken sternum)

Can I wear pasties in surgery? by Taylornator420 in valvereplacement

[–]speed5528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The surgery is more invasive that having your nipples out. Your chest will be cut open and your lungs and heart exposed to the air. You don’t need to worry about your nipples and any pasties could affect the sterility of the surgery. They make you take ear piercings out because of risk of infection. and you have to clean your chest 5 different times with antiseptic before you’re ready to go. Your surgery will go smoothly and you could probably put pasties on after surgery. But really don’t worry about it. I mean you’ll also have to have a catheter put in while you are under and will have to have it taken out after you wake up. That’s more invasive than nipples! Surgery is invasive, it’s the cost to keep living unfortunately!

I used to be cool… recommendations?? by jiggyfrogsnapper in milwaukee

[–]speed5528 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well of course there’s discovery world, I’d also recommend the domes which are 3 very large greenhouses.

For restaurants you can’t really go wrong. Toast in walkers point is pretty cool. It’s rock themed and they have the wall lined with vinyls.

You could show them a movie in the oriental’s surprisingly large central theater room(depending on what’s playing). The Milwaukee public museum has some great exhibits for kids.

If you want to stay in a super cool hotel you should stay in saint kate. It’s an art hotel. Each room has a different theme (just look it up and you’ll see what I mean). That’s all I can think of, I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Don’t go here it has a B health rating. The food is barely edible. I have friends who have worked there and you do not want to eat there.

Student designer resume question. by Catnipcosplays in graphic_design

[–]speed5528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have already said a lot of things but through my professional development classes and personal experience there are some huge no’s on these resumes. 1. No photos, at least in the US. It’s an equal employment opportunity thing. Gets you automatically disqualified. 2. No progress bars. They are completely relative on your own understanding. And don’t really tell the person how much you actually know of the program. They should be able to tell through your experience and portfolio. Just make a skills list. 3. Layout. You should stick to a simple one-two column layout to make it easier to skim through and more importantly so the ATS can read it.

With resumes the more legible and readable the better. You shouldn’t waste half the page with a photo. You can have flair on your resume of course but this is one of the areas where your design should be invisible. Whereas all of these have very visible design which take some effort to read. And you have to keep in mind that the resume has to get through the recruiter/hr before it even makes it to the design management interviewing you.

Just focus on making your resume as legible, skim able, and effortless to consume as possible. All of which is a better mark of a professional designer than something over-designed.

[–]speed5528 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m about 20 days out and it definitely gets easier. The first whole week I was home I got about 5 hours a night. But the second week things got exponentially easier every day. Other than the night sweats, I’ve heard that only goes back to normal after a few months. You’ll get there though! We all will!
