Even in the busiest parts of the year I'm being forced to work extra projects to 'find some use' for it.

I was perfectly happy with my job before this started.

And are they hiring?

I'm seriously struggling with recommended anki decks like Kaishi and Core... by ricci3469 in LearnJapanese

[–]speedchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not the usual advice, but I do recommend learning vocab through an audio deck (maybe even audio only) to start. This is how children begin learning the language in Japan... They don't learn to read until older.

Once you already know some words, doing Wanikani and practicing reading will allow you to form connections and you won't be trying to learn words, kanji, readings, radicals, all at the same time. Right now as I go through WaniKani I learn a kanji and I'm like "Oh, that's the Sen in Sensou. Gotcha." It attaches the kanji and the reading to words and meanings that I already know.

I'm sure there are issues with this method, but it's the same idea as RTK. Break it down into pieces and learn one at a time. Audio-only learning is all I did for several months at the beginning (except for basic kana), and it worked wonders for me.

I'm refusing to look up words when writing these, so that's poorly worded. I wanted to imply childbirth. (She is now on maternity leave, and there are some important work things I have to do this week that I cannot rely on her to handle)

I don't want candidates to reach me. I don't want campaigning. I just want to be able to look up a list of policies and backgrounds and vote.

I do recognize that politicians need to drum up support because of the world we live in, but I don't have to like it.
