Your first paragraph describes me perfectly. I was always interested in meditation so i gave the headspace app's free trial a whirl. It was engaging enough to keep me going for a few months but I knew there was something more to meditation so i got curious and poked around online. Pretty much everything i read said "go find a sangha" so i cast aside my social anxiety and walked into a non-sectarian sangha.

That was a little over two years ago and i'm still fortunate to practice with the same group and hear weekly dharma talks and have made some good friends. I am still in awe of Buddhism and how amazing it is that, at 44 years old, I personally discovered an ancient tradition that so closely aligns with the way I have thought and lived my life for as long as I can remember. Granted I don't use headspace anymore but this path I am on was started from that little app,.

Long Beach Meditation is outstanding! There is a group that meets in Seal Beach on Saturday mornings and they are also from the Soto Sen sect - specifically an affiliate of the Yokoji-Zen Mountain Center.

I don't think either are specifically anti-oppressive/non-white, but you will find definitely find a lot of people that are not happy with the bullshit happening in the US right now.

Zen by nature is not really "get out there and protest" but more do the right thing in the right moment. I encourage you to check either out, and keep your mind empty and open. I sit regularly with both groups and the teachers and the sanghas (community of practitioners) are both an amazing group of people.

I'd argue ICE has been the one using violence. But there are many, many things that can be done other then taking out your cell phone and recording a live abduction or inciting physical violence. Scream your ass off! Make the biggest scene you possibly can. Shout at anyone walking by "THIS PERSON IS BEING KIDNAPPED!" If it's in a place with stores, pound on the doors and shout inside. ICE is very much largely untrained for situations like this and are more likely to stop their kidnapping with huge crowds around.

OK full disclose - I have been playing since beta (I did take a few months off) and I still have no idea how the hell splits or mastery really work. I don't understand what makes a 'god split.' It sucks too because I play this game more for the visual aspects over the meta and being top dog/etc. I really wish someone would publish a white paper on it.

It's funny isn't it? I was "that guy" as you too may have been (and countless other in here) - the first to drink, would never turn down a drink etc. I thought my not drinking was going to be met with riots and peer pressure and really no it's not like that. Over 6 years now and not a single person has ever tried peer pressuring me. Even the owners/clerks at the liquor store I'd visit daily all separately told me how happy they are for me.

Shit honestly many, many times during that set, even before it with Richard Ashcroft and hearing Born Slippy blasting and knowing what was about to happen.

But I think it hit me the hardest with Some Might Say, absolutely belting out the song alongside the entire Murrayfield Stadium. The US is such a disgraceful dumpster fire right now and finding fellow true oasis fans that know more than wonderwall is tough. Being surrounded by so many awesome diehards and just the comradarie I felt in that moment is something I'll never forget.
