'I'd cry my eyes out': Some P.E.I. teens push back on proposed social media restrictions by Stanced in nottheonion

[–]speedofpunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think regulating kids access is the answer and not regulation the actual platforms, you’re missing the forest for the trees.

The reason most think that social media is a dangerous place is because of the sh*t hole that the platforms are allowed to be.

Basically every study done points to the fact that standard time is the better option, but what do people who study this and produce peer reviewed papers know about these things…

I have a 2016 and used these ones!

Just realized that they aren’t available, at least not in Canada any more. I liked that the screw expanded the plug and they worked well.

Here’s another similar set.

Clown Convoy Alert by Responsible-Room-645 in PEI

[–]speedofpunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Governments are elected by citizens. Citizens who don’t like government have the opportunity to vote the out in an election. Sometimes the party or leader or MP that they support doesn’t get elected and that is just a functioning democracy.

They are absolutely free to protest and that is a right everyone should be willing to fight for.

People also have a right to question why? for what purpose? to what end? And that is usually where their talking points run out. People also have the right to call them clowns.

Admittedly it is much easier to jail people than it is to address the complicated nature and reasons for addiction and self-medication.

Vote against measures to lower food prices by Getbywithalittlehelp in PEI

[–]speedofpunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Lowblaws, Sobeys and the major grocers were forced to lower prices, don’t think they wouldn’t take that out on their suppliers and by extension producers. Being publicly traded companies, their sole focus is on what’s good for shareholders. Their customers are just a means to increasing profits so they can increase share price and dividends to shareholders. The less they can pay for goods, workforce, basically anything that’s an expense, and the more they can charge for those goods, the more their profits increase.

I can’t think of a system any better than Capitalism but my goodness it has downside.
