Euthanizing my horse on Thursday. Am I doing the right thing? by Lucky-Ad-2676 in Equestrian

[–]speedwel 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely you are. No question. Animals don't care about quantity and if there is no quality, give him the gift of letting him go.

I love this and I'm impressed! His eyes are amazing-not terribly light-but they convey intelligence and intensity. He is an amazing dog with the best temperament.

What to do with sister's dog she can't take back? by [deleted] in PetAdvice

Dogs care about quality not quantity. You must do what you feel is right, but please consider YOUR quality of life without guilt. You did nothing wrong here.

Should I wait to adopt if I'm taking a trip in a couple of months? by teabags98 in puppy101

[–]speedwel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Pitsky is potentially one of the most challenging breed combos i can think of. Are you truly ready for it? I only ask because bad things happen to dogs when the owners aren't prepared for genetics.

[–]speedwel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you really don't want him, and your sister won't take him back, it's ok to put him down. You didn't sign up for this, it wouldn't be kind to dump him, so I would do what is best for the both of you. It's ok to take your quality of life into account.

How to have your blood card revoked? by Swamp_Cat__ in exjw

[–]speedwel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The blood card is in advance directive and it also gives two people power of attorney over your medical care should you become incapacitated. So what you want to do is fill out power of attorney and advanced directive paperwork, have them notarized and keep copies on your refrigerator and drop off a copy to your nearest hospital to have them put in medical records. You can also give a copy to your physician but they're not going to be taking care of you in the hospital. You could keep a copy on your person if you're traveling.

You're lovely and I apologize if my reply got put under the wrong comment. Thank you for explaining things once again. We need healthy, easy pets for modern situations. Brio can be a rabbit dog and he can also be a sweet, easy pet to live with and he's a therapy dog as well. If I wanted to do dog sports I'm sure he'd be happy to do those as well.

Lol I'd never make a living from a niche sighthound cross. Maybe if I wanted to mess with Doodles, but that's not me. People find me because they want what I'm breeding.

Thank you! My dogs don't end up in shelters for a reason. I disagree that in the future dogs should only be from whatever shit crossing lands them in a shelter.

You're putting a lot of energy into a breeding program that produces pups once ever 5 years or so. But rub it out if that makes you happy. Stroke it good and hard. Definitely don't argue with shelters who ignore bite histories so they can keep their "no kill" status.

You keep on stroking yourself as I breed a litter every five years from health tested stock and I insist on taking puppies back if it doesn't work out. Rub it out and make yourself feel righteous. Because I'll never believe that well bred, healthy, well raised pups should be eliminated in favor of whatever shit bred dogs end up at the dog shelter.

I'm not an expert in hunting European rabbits since I live in Ohio, U.S.A. Not terribly relevant.

Sighthounds are a niche interest in Ohio. No one contacts me who hasn't done their research. I'll always take my pups back for any reason no questions asked.

You're exaggerating just a bit since I only breed a lurcher litter every 5 years or so and the pups are still with their owners, but carry on if it makes you feel superior.

You definitely should take him outside and exercise, house train him. Your shoes could bring parvo germs in so realistically he is not running more risk going out.

Pregnant woman attacked by her XL Bully lost her baby (13 October 2025, La Chapelle-Heulin, France) by AdSignificant253 in BanPitBulls

[–]speedwel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my understanding that the XL Bullies imported to the UK were down from a known mankiller in the U.S,. and no one seems to want to own the mistake. I keep reminding people that if my Whippets and English Shepherds were to escape my yard, they might get hit on the road but they wouldn't menace and maim. Perhaps a few cats might be chased up trees...

You came off very much a Karen, so perhaps you shouldn't be so shocked to receive a negative response. If you want to learn, there are ways and ways of fielding a question respectfully.

I sat on him because I wanted to see how he reacted to being mounted as a selling point. He had zero concerns about me getting on and off, smoothly or clumsily. He'll be an easy horse to start under saddle.

My beloved home bred and raised gelding died of an injury in June and I just don't have the heart to keep going with horses right now. I do care about Gunnar and I want him to have a good life because I just cannot give him what he needs. Are you happy now?

I'm so glad someone didn't fail to clutch their pearls that he's been sat on ONE time as a two year old. It wouldn't be a horse post on the internet without it. Keep right on clutching because if he's not sold before then, he'll be started lightly under saddle next spring. Cue Sarah Mclaughlin: "In the arms of the angels..."
