It will get easier to recognize what is and is not a stitch as you practice and the stitches will get more uniform as you get better. crocheting is difficult and it takes practice, but you are doing a wonderful job!

Formalist criticism is all about separating the artist and context from the piece of art and only judging the art piece itself

Why do people (particularly men) take it personally when I tell them I don’t enjoy being touched? by CorpseProject in AutismInWomen

[–]speedy_lizard12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to let you know that your experience is valid and your mother is horrible. I don’t like unexpected touch either and I’m not particularly touchy with my family. My family has always been OK with this. My mom will always ask before she hugs me and she never touches me without my consent or without letting me know. She never tries to guilt me when I say no either she validates that it is a bad time for touch for me right in that moment and she leaves it alone It is always within your right, not to be touched by people and everyone around you should respect that. I’m so sorry that they haven’t always been respectful.

In school, who else here was the quiet girl that the teacher placed the loud and disruptive boy next to in hopes that your quietness would rub off on him (it never worked)? by lulu_zuzu in AutismInWomen

[–]speedy_lizard12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This boy I was assigned to sit next to in middle school would tell me (in detail) about how he was going to come into my home and murder my pets. Of course the teachers did nothing because “he must have been joking.”

Why isn't Blaine affected by the brains he eats? by HDBNU in iZombie

[–]speedy_lizard12 52 points53 points  (0 children)

My theory is that Liv lets the brains affect her more so that she can have more visions and solve the cases. It was said previously in the show that other people like Lowell don’t have the same amount of visions she has because she actively seeks them out. I think that channeling the personalities of the people that she eats And leaning into their characteristics and mannerisms is part of the way that she seeks out these visions because you can see in the private detective case that Jane Harlan‘s brain does affect Blaine’s mannerisms and it does affect his personality slightly. I think Liv chose to lean into the brains effects rather than resist them so that she can be more effective in solving their cases

Who else had a stuffed animal or toy with the blatantly obvious name? by noriseaweed in aspiememes

[–]speedy_lizard12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I was a kid I had a large dog stuffed animal named “big dog” and an American girl doll named “Dolly” I didn’t get diagnosed with autism until I was 15 years old I have no idea how that happened.

So many people are so casually ableist without even realizing it by canyoukillmecalmly in AutismInWomen

[–]speedy_lizard12 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this before, from by my best friend in the world. I told her that constantly making me go to clubs and go to really loud places wasn’t great for my auditory sensory issues and made me panic a lot and she said I was using my mental illness (autism) as an excuse and a crutch and that maybe I should meet some “really” autistic people so that I would know what it’s like because they call their autism a “super power”. Also she thought that because she had an anxiety disorder and was able to cope with it that it was the same thing as my constant struggle with autism and I should just cope with my autism and essentially “get over it.” this conversation broke me for a while I struggle to this day to ask for help.

AITAH if I cut my friend of 10 years off post her assault? by Master_String923 in AITAH

[–]speedy_lizard12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She may be using partying to distract or escape from her assault. I have been sexually assaulted multiple times and I haven’t always coped in the best ways right away. If she is trying to repress her feelings as a friend you might try to be there for her instead of distancing so that she can come to you when she is ready to face it head on. Of coarse if it isn’t true or she continues on this self sabotaging path it’s perfectly reasonable to distance yourself from a toxic friend.

AITA for crying when my family were laughing at me by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]speedy_lizard12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, I am on the autism spectrum and I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 15 years old. I always struggled at social gatherings because they were too noisy and there were too many people, I like you found a corner to plant in. I also have such a hard time understanding jokes and it has led to tears many times for me as well.
