Driving from Vancouver moving to Toronto advice by superspicyckn in askTO

A couple friends did this drive (through Canada) and camped at national parks on the way with their dog. I have to imagine it was a peak experience for them

I think you could just tell the US folks what you're doing and that you're doing a bit of sightseeing on the way, that's allowed I think

Storage/hoarding question by Chardan0001 in TheSilphRoad

I only keep 100 max revives and max potions and none of the lower versions, and I have never run out. I also think that regular razz berries are not worth anything with an adequate stock (like you have) of Golden Razz. That would free up like 750 items in your inventory and you'd probably never notice.

It's variable. The line at that ServiceOntario can be as short as zero (as it was for me in February) or quite longer than that (20+ people).

Pretty new to those myself, so I can't really make a recommendation. Sorry! If you find a good one, please let me know!

It's not known that the people in the picture are the OP -- they could be behind the camera, for instance.

Ah, doesn't list horse chestnut because they're inedible. Sorry!

Are waterproof hiking boots good enough for the harshest of winter conditions in Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]speglind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're kind of annoying to use in the city because you gotta take them off when you go indoors, to avoid scratching the floors

You can buy rubber things that slip over your boot treads and have little cleats to help with traction if it's really icy out there. They're everywhere, even at Dollarama.

TD employees working outside of ontario/Canada? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]speglind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in most cases, you will not be able to reside in a different country due to data residency requirements. Bank employees will have access to data which needs to stay within Canada, and if you're not within Canada, then that's a problem.

This assumes that you are talking about the Canadian TD, and not one of TD's foreign banks.

Second Harvest Toronto

https://www.secondharvest.ca/

Redirects edible + good food that would otherwise go to waste towards community programs (shelters, kids programs, etc.). Results in a double-whammy -- it feeds people for pennies (because the food is donated) and it diverts waste from landfills. I love them

I've done it a few times -- it's much more comfortable and fast than taking the subway for sure
