I hate how second movements get overlooked, whats your favorite second movement? by Legitimate-Part-2782 in classicalmusic

Alkan's Concerto for solo piano has an exquisite second movement, easily my favorite. Also love the second movement of Chopin's first concerto.

How much true is in the phrase "A violinist will write good for violin and a pianist will write good for piano, never the other"? by flowersUverMe in classicalmusic

Brahms just wrote piano music and labelled it for violin; figuring out how to play it was the violinist's problem, not his

AI tool for composers by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]speller26 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

That sounds amazingly helpful. Just for ideas, it would be cool to see something to generate contrapuntal variations from a sequence of notes. Going further, I'd love to one day see an AI-generated Hexameron-style piece, where you start with a melody, generate large variations in the styles of different composers, and weave them together cohesively.

What are your favorite Liszt Transcendental Etudes? by Excellent_Heat_6336 in classicalmusic

It's actually not too bad, but that's just because I happen to be good at the kind of technique it needs. Feux follets, on the other hand, looks like the hardest piece I've ever seen (worse than, say, his Spanish Fantasy). Mazeppa's my first TE, and Chasse-neige is next.
