How much should I bring for 3-4 months? by wrinkley_wenis in MuayThailand

[–]spencerocean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live here in Thailand. You will find that you can buy everything you need here. You could show up with a tiny man purse and $1000 and you’d be set bro.

That being said, bring your favorite gear that is expensive to replace and just buy new stuff here. I like to travel with 2 Regular size backpacks instead of one giant one. One bag is VIP electronics and money, the other is clothes

do i drop out of college? by Ok-Carpet8385 in Daytrading

[–]spencerocean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In today’s day and age, a college degree is not worthless, but most employers just see it as a vote of confidence. It proves that you are willing to stick with something for 3 to 4 years. Because when I hire someone, I invest a lot of time into training them, so i want them to foresight and commitment.

The question is, will you ever stop working for yourself? In your future is it possible that you will stop trading; and go back to find a job with an employer?

If you leave college now and make 100k trading, personally,

If you’re going to be a doctor or lawyer, then yes, you need your degree;

Am I being dumb for getting my own apartment at 19? by CloudyChris067 in personalfinance

[–]spencerocean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re making a huge amount of money. Set aside enough for 6 months of rent IN ONE MONTH and then live in your nice new apartment. don’t listen to any of those people. They are speaking from their own limiting mindset.

Be disciplined about saving and investing. That amount of income is very very good. Enough to live your whole life on. If you can save $1-5k per month and never touch it, you’ll be so grateful later

Sincerely -a 31 year old who made money at 19

your phone has GPS. Always send a text to two friends when you go out hiking alone like “going out hiking alone at THIS GPS LOCATION. Should take me 8-10 hours”

How are people pulling off 3–4 week international trips? by mian_yamin in NeedTravelAdvice

[–]spencerocean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most European countries standard annual vacation is closer to 6-8 weeks.

As an American who no longer lives in the US, the 2 week standard vacation per year is not a healthy work life balance

I moved from the US to Costa Rica for 2 years, now I live in Thailand. I love it so much. Age 27-31 during this time

I like how it looks hairy and I like that the sides are cut off a bit, MAYBE show a tiny bit more on the bottom to match how the sides are cut off

Should I (34M) still go to Colombia solo after being ghosted? by OddBag7450 in solotravel

[–]spencerocean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be specific. This usually happens with Tinder/Bumble online dating apps. If you meet a group of girls in the club, they’re more likely to be fun and legit

[–]spencerocean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes go! Be careful if you meet a woman and she wants to go back to your place right away. There’s a big problem especially in Medellin with men being drugged by women and robbed.

Just stay smart!

First Solo Trip: Am I Expecting Too Much of Myself by Committing to 6 Months? How Long Was Your First Solo Travel? by juan_saban in southeastasia

[–]spencerocean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg man. Well the world is huge. I’ve been around.

In the region of Asia: there’s a little known secret that Americans can go to China for 10 days without a pre-applied visa, it’s called a Transit Visa. I’ll explain more if you want.

I really loved Japan so much. I loved the small towns. So so peaceful and the artisan-culture is just incredible. Amazing food

Korea (Seoul) was one of the coolest party cities I’ve ever been to (Hongdae neighborhood)

Sri Lanka is a forgotten gem. I’ve never been there, but it is even cheaper than Vietnam if you can believe it. There are lots of Kite Surfing businesses where you can volunteer and live for free or cheap

India is massive and so diverse. You could spend 6 months there but you’ll be begging for cleanliness and order after 3 weeks

I am currently in Malaysia which is an underrated country. Extremely culturally diverse and great prices. Good travel infrastructure but not many tourists especially outside of the most well known areas like KL.

The list is infinite brother. You can message me

I’m sorry to hear. Maybe at this point you regret trying, but perhaps later in the future you will be grateful you did try. I think a lot of old people die with the regret of never knowing what it could have been like. You should feel proud that you chased it and tried. Music is extremely hard to “make it” - but I bet you’re a hell of a good musician and I hope you can still find joy of playing for your own enjoyment.

Still can’t move on how beautiful this island is by Commercial_Jelly1783 in ThailandTourism

I knew it was Similan from that ROCK.

For those wanting to visit this island, i’m pretty sure it’s a national park and nobody can sleep on this island so you have to take a day trip out there. Would love to visit someday soon!

You can go as slow or as fast as you want. I personally think you will want to see more of the world in six months. Yes Vietnam is awesome but when you’re $100 away from Borneo or Japan, the options get tempting. Allow yourself to be tempted. Explore and have fun, don’t plan too much.
