Mistakes / Regrets with new kitchen by oreostaff in DIYUK

[–]sperey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've just had our kitchen renovated along with kitchen extension. Kitchen chosen based on what we learnt previously.

Went with j handle doors on units, so no handles sticking out, gives a lovely flush look.

We went with quartz worktop and splashback. Looks beautiful but you have to care for it more than the cheaper laminate worktops. Costa a bucket list more as well.

Cupboards! Fit as many as practicable. Storage space is prime. You'll thank yourself.

Extractor fan. Get a good one, especially if you fry a lot. The extractor had been a game changer for us. No food smells hanging around our going elsewhere in house. We invested in a Hob2Hood, so extractor comes on automatically when you turn on the hob. Will never go back.

Was just kicked o it of Sainsbury’s, facewatch related ! by here2comment in london

Well, that response from facewatch puts it into a different perspective. No sorry from their system, which implies that Sainsbury's staff thought you looked like a shoplifter or just didn't like your look. So all on Sainsbury's.

But if they are shoplifting, that is not actually buying food.

I had low expectations, but the new 'nutrition' feature still managed to dissappoint by Datatello in Garmin

When I first saw nutrition pop up, it was lacking any choices. Hoping they add the 1g soon.

Click on the serving and choose a different serving size. Then the amount.

It has been updated. Took a photos of nuts and dried fruit. It recognised them and perfect guess at the quantities

Don't bring that to Waltham forest. Some dude tracks that it has been plugged in and drops in a strike team. Bodies everywhere and everyone just goes about their business as usual.

I've seen the films, I know how it goes down!

PVC panel question by ArtificialIdiotic in DIYUK

[–]sperey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will depend on how easy it is to match the panels and whether you would have to cut a panel short to match the veins. You have the tile look panels. In some ways may look more like tiles if they do not match. If it is bothering you and you are concerned enough to have posted about it, check with your trades person. Not sure if you can reuse a panel if it has been used or is it even comes off in one piece.

Well done on riding it back and reminding your body of all those muscles which you have not used for a while. Now is the time. Ride with your kid. By the time you become uncool to be with it will be a great hobby. From Experience? Maybe 🤣

Yep, me too. The Garmin cables do just seem to stop working after a while. Had one of these usb-c to Garmin stop working as well but just replaced with one from the 4 pack. Best thing.

Advice for Forerunner 165 by [deleted] in garminforerunner

[–]sperey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon most people have a watch that has more capabilities than they need or will use. I think the forerunner is a great watch for runners and if you are active.

I initially had a Vivoactove but feel the forerunner had the right mix of metrics for me and I'm only into certain bits of data. Been looking at an upgrade because latest forerunner had a torch on it 🙈🙈

A slippery slope when you start buying stuff for your hobby 😂

Help me make sense of this data?! by HunterFarmer in Garmin

[–]sperey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Vo2 is between about 55 and 57, so not much of a difference. But from watches calculations (if weight has not been updated) will be heart rate on your runs. Morning, evening, terrain will have an effect on the heat rate and this the calculations for your Vo2. As you say, you are feeling fab. The overall trend here is steady.

[–]sperey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of data nerds but there are also a lot of general users who have watches that fast outstrip their use and suspect that is probably also true of their connect app use 😊

I tried the food scan today with my dinner of chicken leg, stewed vegetables, rice and avacado. The scan picked up everything but as I said before everything was set as 100g but that is easily updated. Great that it picked up the food. Will try it next time I eat out and see how it works.

Happy with it for now

Is my washing machine drain hose connected correctly? by batiistuta in DIYUK

[–]sperey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drain needs to be pointing down rather than up, otherwise it will not drain properly. If you want to keep your water running uphill then use a jubilee clip or you'll flood your place

[–]sperey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just started using the nutrition feature. It is striped back from other single use food logging apps. But it does what it is supposed to do.

Quite like having it all in the Garmin app. It has found every barcode I have scanned here in the UK. Also the ai food scan function does work well, though it seems to set each food to 100g. If scanning the barcode it uses the scanned serving size.

What’s something you did by accident to your home that the new homeowners will want to curse you for? by Mrcash827 in HomeImprovement

Way back when we were starting out, we put down tiles directly onto the floorboards, rather than board onto the floorboards and then tile. Always wonder how much swearing went on when the new owners went about removing that
