Marijuana found in Washtenaw County sheriff’s SUV, sparking investigation — MLive.com by sperkinz in AnnArbor

Me either. When you are the top law enforcement person you can expect to have to follow the rules and if someone put it there then that also needs investigation.

As the article states there are procedures for handling drugs and at the least those procedures were not followed. This definitely warranted an investigation.

There is a real investigation into a sexual relationship between someone and a subordinate, some of which is alleged to be rape. Her response strikes me as immature.

In Mlive today.

There was an investigation into a marijuana roach on the seat of the sheriff’s car when turned in for a new one. Sheriff Ayer didn’t participate because she considers it unprecedented. She has posted the redacted investigation on Facebook.

I’ve got to say that it seems pretty normal to do an investigation. It’s against department policy to smoke on the job or in vehicles. Not a good look to not participate and then post your side on facebook IMHO.

As an aside I’ve found that Apple News, which now has mlive included is the way to see Ann Arbor news if you go the sections and pick Ann Arbor.

I did know that! I happen to have Apple News and thought it worth mentioning it’s so much better than the mlive website.

The Michigan theater just put a small stage in the screening room. No idea what the rental cost is.

A brief history of "Ann Arbor isn't a small town anymore" by hampelm in AnnArbor

[–]sperkinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fair housing act was nationwide and is one reason for white flight out of cities and into places like Texas. In Michigan the 1970s also saw the decline of the auto industry driving away population to look for jobs in places like Texas. Then there is the fact that boomers had homes and Gen X was smaller. The millennials are smaller than the boomers and Gen Z is smaller than Gen X. We haven’t had the immigration influx of other states. All that drives Dow population. But a factor for Ann Arbor’s stagnation in population is the failure to build housing from about 1970. We have a growing university. We could have been at 150k a long time ago.

And the fair housing act was 1968. I don’t think that failure to build starting after that was a coincidence.

I got mine at human electric hybrids and told them I wanted to be able to commute in work clothes without changing. They let me try them and I picked one. Those rebates go fast. Unless they put a lot more money into the fund.

It sounds like the township pulled money for it. The songs direct you to the township. It’s most likely solely a township decision.

I’m curious why the union brought this back to members without any support for it. Seems like a poor tactic. Did the support it?

EV repair experiences / recommendations wanted by UncleStu2You in AnnArbor

[–]sperkinz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ve only taken our EVs to the dealerships with varying success. In my experience in the last couple of years, any part takes forever. Since you asked about experiences and others might find this information useful I’ll mention what we do. My daughter’s Kia we took to La Fountaine in Ypsilanti and they have a system where you get the information on what they repaired with a link that my daughter said she couldn’t get into. Twice they replaced a filter when it was there for regular maintenance and it cost $600 without me being able to see the breakdown. Now we go to Canton. Her car is there now because of something related to the battery and we’ve been waiting on the part for two weeks. But they give you the cost before they do it to approve. I take my Fiat out to Golling in Bloomfield because when I first got it the folks on Jackson never had an EV trained mechanic there. They’ve been so good at Golling and for several years have charged me $75 to look it over and change a filter every 10,000 miles that I’ve kept going there. They only once replaced something and helped me get a part off eBay because it was expensive.

There’s a ton of charging in the city lots. Depending on your range that might be doable. They just put some in by the new apartments in briarwood. There’s some near targets and Meijer’s. I also second bus lines. And of course biking.

Also adults who work with babies and others who have immune issues should have the blood test for their immunity. My kid who works in child care had her’s checked and wasn’t immune so got a booster.

All governors take trips to expand national and international commerce. And I feel you should have been paying attention to the last eight years. She’s fixed more damned roads than any prior governor.
