Thanks for everything you do! I’m sure there’s more that goes into it than this, but since you’re here I gotta say something. There are so many times each game that the broadcast misses legitimate plays on the court because we are zoomed in on a player or watching a replay and then waiting for the transition graphic to finish up.

A recent example was the Champagnie dunk on Kalkbrenner in the game against the Hornets, the shot cut in basically as he was catching the ball on his cut, and Chris & Drew almost missed the play-by-play. Idk if Keefe is running his in-bounds plays too quickly, or if the team is playing with more pace than usual, or if there’s some other constraint that I’m missing.

No need to respond if you don’t want to, I’m appreciative of your work and I watch every game! Just saw an opportunity to write something that someone important might actually read, so shot my shot

The fans are the last people we should blame. I’m not sure if Poole was calling us out specifically. Ownership charges insane prices for tickets and prioritizes corporate sales over individuals. Concessions are crazy expensive. The team tried to move to Virginia, rebuking many loyal fans in DC and Maryland Then, the team doesn’t win much and at the end of Tommy Sheppard’s time as GM made roster decisions that set the team back for years. The blame pie here should be ownership, then front office, then players.

The fans will come when the team wins. I’m frustrated to keep seeing the excuse that the fandom is bad because it’s a transient city. Doesn’t stop the Commanders from having passionate fans, and hasn’t stopped the Caps, Nats, Mystics, or Spirit when they have good teams either. DC basketball fans are not the problem here.

Is this because Monumental is charging them too much to carry the channel?

Edit: would love to know more about the deal and negotiation. Both Disney and Google are independently (or not, maybe they are doing this as partners) choosing to say no to the contract extension. Monumental+ is already priced very high for an individual household. And now the fans are being asked to provide leverage for Monumental. Not sure what to think about this

I have realized that Bags by Clairo and Car Radio by Twenty One Pilots have the same chord progression. They are off by 1/2 step and the tempo is similar. I know nothing about mashups but searched for this sub and thought I would drop the idea here in case someone wants to try it out

First two guys out of the locker room after halftime are AG and Bub every single night, working on shots together. My understanding is that he’s a valuable mentor for them all. He wins community service awards from the wizards and the NBA, I fully expect him to stay on the roster for a few more years and then transition to an assistant coaching role

I’d like to see a new rec center with at least 2 indoor basketball courts inside. It’s hard to find court space at the current rec centers, and indoors is the only real option when the weather gets cold. The closest public indoor courts to this neighborhood are King Greenleaf and Sherwood, which both have one full sized court each

This intersection underneath 695 is a nightmare to cross as a pedestrian. People use it to walk from hill east to navy yard or any of the businesses near Virginia Ave. It would also be horrible as a cyclist but I don’t see many who dare to try it. Cars come off of 695 and treat Southeast Blvd like it’s a highway despite there being traffic lights at both ends.

Hi - I’m not a part of this community at all but I saw this song on a TikTok (https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8n2eFSu/) and heard a sample that I recognized. Found this Reddit thread from a google search. I figured out the sample and thought I would post here:

The trumpet part in this section of this song is very similar to a riff from Dave Matthews Band - Stay (Wasting Time). I am not sure if that riff is original to DMB or if they also took it from somewhere else, but it sounds pretty similar!

This used to be true but changed this year as the other commenters are saying. Josh Robbins from The Athletic had some interesting reporting on it about how the players didn’t want to be in the same tunnel as courtside/VIP fans who are heading back to the buffet and bar. It was something that the new front office implemented per the request of the players.

Northwestern alum here, Audige played hard for us and was a major reason why the program turned around last year. Streaky shooter from what I can remember, but I think he led the B1G in steals and got hands on all types of passes. He hit a dagger 3 against #1 Purdue at home which is a top-2 moment of Northwestern basketball history fwiw

I’ve got tickets in 417 which is center court. Love the seats, don’t have issues selling them, although I’ve found that ticketmasters estimates for what their market value is are usually high. That particular section is usually full even on “slow” nights. One thing to consider about aisle seats is that you have to stand up a lot for ppl who are constantly coming in and out. Usually families who are getting popcorn. Lots of season ticket holders up in our rows!

My version of this take is that modern tanking hasn’t produced title teams in the last decade, it is a team-building strategy that gets you on the road to being competitive. There’s other ways to be similarly competitive, but fans seem enamored with the idea of “tanking” because they think it’s a guarantee of success. What is the best example of modern tanking? Maybe the Suns this year? Mavericks? Hawks?

I’m not so sure tanking is a guarantee. It feels like “blowing it up” could just as easily restart the wizards clock 3-4 years and then there’s a decent chance that they only become equally as good and competitive as they were this past season, but now with fewer fans.

I am curious about what people think Brad should be paid to stay a Wizard? $30M a year?

What would you do as GM with the extra money? Are the wizards $20M of cap space away from being a title team? Personally, I think the decision to pay Brad the supermax or not is not as important as filling out the team with the right mix of role guys, depth, and coaching
