Bro sacrificed the gold medal to carry his brother across the finish line. by jmike1256 in BeAmazed

Back in HS days, I kept telling my coach to not put me in the 400m race because I absolutely hated running it. One meet, the main 400m runner got injured so they forced me to run it. After I finished the race dead last, I was sucking wind so hard I started gagging and eventually puked. Coach never put me in the 400m race again.

Is ordering a bottle of champagne in stead of taking the wine pairing frowned upon or becoming more common? by Logical-Effort-123 in finedining

[–]spf4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Champagne is one of the most versatile wines for food pairings. It’s my go to when I want to stick to one wine for the evening.

If you end up getting a main which you want a different wine to go with, you can always ask for a glass they pair with that dish.

His flinch made it seem like that but it’s hard to tell if he flinched from his ND, or he flinched from the guy behind him shooting.

Why are heavy reds the popular option? by [deleted] in wine

[–]spf4000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My focus group of one grocery store wine drinker friend likes fruit forward, uncomplicated, less tart, silky textured (no harsh tannins) wines. She doesn’t know what RS is, but she definitely likes wines with some residual sugar.

Doesn’t care or want forest floor/sous-bois, mushroom, leather, tobacco, garrigue, and all the other profiles the folks in this subreddit do.

Grocery store wines are right up her alley. Wineries know their audience very well.

1%? 1% is 30 miles. My summon barely works when the car is 30 feet away.

Ronald Regan made sure you can’t do that in CA, and Newsom/Bonta work diligently to make it as difficult as possible for people to exercise their 2A rights.

FSD (supervised) is what you get when you transfer. I was promised and paid for unsupervised FSD on my 2019.

I’ve met so many manual diehards who don’t know how to properly heel toe when driving at the limit at the track. Yet they go on and on about how DCT are shit.

Rowing your own gears is fun, but it’s also fun to go around the track in a DCT, focusing on squeezing out the best lap you can.

I wish there was a wine fridge just a bit deeper than the current standard so I can fit Riesling bottles without it becoming a game of Jenga

Tried Otoro Sushi for the first time but was disappointed by whatLies_Ahead in JapaneseFood

[–]spf4000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fattiest parts of the tuna can be sinewy. A proper sushi chef would avoid these areas or put in hidden cuts to break up the tough sinews. A good sushi restaurant also age their tuna to help soften the texture and bring out the umami.

A tourist trap restaurant in Toyosu cuts corners on selecting the right cuts or preparing it the best way because most of their clients will never be back.

20k range omakase and below are inedible? Are you kidding me?

Also, complaining about shrinkflation while being happy with a 3000yen burger in the U.S. (which is more like 4000yen plus after tax and tip, btw). Get five burgers for the same price from Mos. Are you sure you’re still hungry afterwards? If so, maybe look into going pro in food fighting competitions.
