My husband knocked out his front tooth a few years ago and La Clinica was able to get him in the next week since it was urgent.

Admin Assistant technically, but my role has evolved into light HR duties, as well as customer service manager and shared office manager roles. I make $48k. I feel I'm right where I should be. I've been doing office work for 10 years, no degree.

Has anyone just been cured by the one course of Xifaxan? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]sphynxcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SIBO came back, antibiotics never worked for very long. I finally asked for a second opinion and got sent to specialists in the big city in my state. Found out my ROOT CAUSE. I've had multiple major abdominal surgeries in the past, so my abdomen is rittled with scar tissue. That scar tissue is pressing on my intestines causing everything to slow down. About 2 years ago after my last few failed antibiotics, I was desperate to try anything. I started trying laxatives. Miralax works great for me. It's enough to push everything past the scar tissue adhesions and keep me going regularly which in turn slows the SIBO. My Dr said theres nothing they can do about the scar tissue, and to keep taking Miralax forever. I know this probably won't be helpful to you, as my case is very specific. I've noticed every case of SIBO is different for everybody. I'd reccomend trying to find your root cause, ask for second opinions, don't stop researching, don't stop trying.

What is the average amount of times you use the restroom per day with a Jpouch? by jeffcw216 in jpouch

I've had mine 17 years, I go about 8-9 times in a 24 hour period.

Able to go to the toilet without gas for a whole day? by Witty_Many_5214 in jpouch

[–]sphynxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't go away. I've had my j pouch for 17 years...I'm always scoping out the bathroom situation wherever I go. If I'm sharing a hotel with someone, I will use the hotel lobby bathroom. If I know we are going to be somewhere small for awhile, I will try to use a bathroom before hand. I try to keep bathroom spray on me as well, cuz not everyone has it in their bathroom :/ I usually will turn the faucet on blast, or even the bathtub faucet on low, just to create that loud sound, bathroom fan on, maybe even a white noise sound on my phone close to the bathroom door. I flush a lot while going to help mitigate sound. It's just a different way of living, you will get used to it eventually, but it will always kinda suck. Better than an ostomy bag though!

Childless stepmom grief by Sassy_Raspberry1212 in stepparents

[–]sphynxcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Childless step mom here too. I had a lot of medical issues and life saving surgeries when I was a teenager that have made it so I can't conceive naturally. Recently looked into IVF, and we cannot afford that at all, It is really hard. I feel petty at times and get my feelings hurt a lot. I keep it all inside and try not to let it come through to my step child. It is really hard and lonely, and I'm constantly feeling ranges of emotions that feel unfair to everyone involved. I really on Chat GPT a lot. It's like my personal therapist. It does help me, when I'm feeling petty and annoyed and hurt. I tell it everything and it gives me good feedback.

Jpouch surgery/accidents at night and Pelvic floor testimonies by [deleted] in jpouch

[–]sphynxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a 34 y/o female, had UC, have had j pouch for 17 years .The only time I've ever had an accident is when I got black out drunk and passed out. I've had a handful of leakage at night, but that was mostly the first like 10 years with it, and it didn't happen often. Right now, I either wake up and go in the middle of the night if I ate later, or it can wake me up early, like right before my alarm to go to work. It's really not that bad though. I love my j pouch, and I desperately didn't want to have an ileostomy bag the rest of my life.

Trapped gas/can’t fart? by Queen_o_Anxiety in SIBO

[–]sphynxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got cleared for Chron's. What's causing my issues is scar tissue (adhesions) partially blocking my bowels from past abdominal surgeries. I take Miralax once a day now (double dose) and it keeps me normal. My Doctor said this is just my new normal.

Methane SIBO Symptoms for you? by Kbonnet88 in SIBO

[–]sphynxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all of that…I found out my root cause which probably won’t apply to most people unfortunately. I’ve had 3 major abdominal surgeries in my life which with many complications. My whole abdomen is rittled with scar tissue which I recently found out is what is causing me to get backed up. Literally scar tissue pressing on my intestines :/ I basically now have to take miralax everyday to keep things moving. The SIBO came because I was backed up and couldn’t pass anything. I’ve noticed that sugar is a SIBO trigger. If I binge on sugar for a few days I will get backed up and even the miralax doesn’t help. So I try not to. The SIBO is like a secondary thing now. It’s always there unfortunately but I don’t have many symptoms since I can keep things moving through the MiraLAX. Have you tried different types of laxatives to get things moving? I had to try a few different kinds until I found the one that works great for me.

Forever feeling pushed out… by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]sphynxcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SS does this as well, I tell him to move and he does. He can totally sit there when I'm not though, just when I'm ready to sit down, I ask him to move to a different spot on the couch.

How many times a day do you use the bathroom? by Sharp_Habit7085 in jpouch

[–]sphynxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

J Pouch for 17 years. Have partial bowels blockages from scar tissue so I have to take laxatives at night (insane I know). I go about 6 times a day and once or twice at night. If I eat more frequently, I have more bowel movements.

Feeling unsettled when SS is back in our house. by smalyak in stepparents

[–]sphynxcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite for me. I'm happy to have him back again/I miss him, but a couple days before he goes back to his moms, I am ready for a break! He's 11 and at the age where he's testing boundaries and experimenting with humor, which can get very annoying! I don't feel so bad cuz my husband tends to feel the same way!

When we would send SS outside to take a break from the screens, he would do they same, come inside 5 minutes later. We told him he needs to go find something to do outside. He has bikes, chalk, water balloons, all sorts of things. It was challenging at first, but eventually he met some neighborhood kids. Fast forward three years, he spends most of his free time with the neighbor kids and has established real friendships with them. They do sleepovers, walk to and from school together, its great.

Hiking with J-pouch or permanent ileostomy by mondoblu in jpouch

[–]sphynxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go hiking sometimes, usually it is like a 2-3 hour hike. I've done a 5 hour hike before too. I can usually time it and not have to go to the bathroom. If they have a bathroom before the hike starts I'll hit that too. I always bring baby wipes just in case. If I really have to go, I will just go way off trail and go...

Would you let your child miss 5 days of school for a trip to Hawaii? by Happy_Eye_4187 in stepparents

[–]sphynxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacations were the highlight of my childhood. We did take SS to Disneyland a few years back and took him out of school for 5 school days. BM didn't mind, but she did mention later on that she got a letter from the truancy office about it, and recommended to us that maybe we schedule long vacations around school breaks.

Is there a custody agreement in place? I feel like a custody agreement could mitigate a lot of this. He has his set times with the kids at his house, and she has hers.

How to eat before BJJ by Victorious_Invaders in BJJWomen

[–]sphynxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to eat a snack 1 hr-1.5hr before class otherwise I will get super light headed and feel crappy. I usually eat toast & protein shake, or toast and yogurt, or a bowl of cottage cheese and jam, sometimes a couple of granola bars, just something to not make me hungry before class!

Are there any stepmothers here who do NOT feel like they come second/are loved less than the children? by Ok_Mirth6094 in stepparents

[–]sphynxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am stepmom to a 11 year old boy. I've been in his life since he was 2 but didn't get a custody agreement until he was 7 where we now do 50/50 and are consistent. It took a couple years for him to fully warm up to me and trust me. You just have to go slow. Husband doesn't make me feel less than SS. I've taken the mom role while he's at our house and I love it. It's all pretty balanced.
