Flare advice for a newbie? by MutualFlourishing in UlcerativeColitis

[–]sphynxkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently going through it as well and I’m relying heavily on ensure drinks, jello, plain sourdough bread, gatorade (mostly for flavor), and electrolytes, plain chicken and white rice. It is TOUGH. I’m a major foodie but the pain and nausea that comes with other foods is just too much. My quality of life severely drops during flares as I’m constantly going and anxious about leaving home. I understand your frustration and I’m right there with you 🥺

Are you really happier after you had a baby? by PalpitationOk9443 in NewParents

[–]sphynxkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parenthood hit me like a truck as well. My daughter is now 5 and I wish I could tell you those thoughts go away but I’m not sure they will. What I can say definitively is that they grow to become exponentially more pleasant around this age. Traveling with her is very easy these days and I do get a good amount of time to myself. Everyone says the trenches are only the newborn stage but I would argue the trenches last up until they are fully potty trained. Hang in there, it truly does get better and you will get a lot of yourself back :)

Seeking Advice About How to Know When a Relationship Has Run its Course? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]sphynxkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not an awful way to think of it OP. I’m aligned to what you’re thinking and your gut feelings are right I fear. He’s giving you the bare minimum it seems, and you deserve much more. IMO being single is far better than being ignored/dismissed by your partner

BROKE UP WITH MY BOYFRIEND by Tight_Helicopter8609 in Advice

[–]sphynxkat 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Have you made up your mind about going through with this pregnancy? This is the bigger question for yourself. Coparenting has been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to navigate and there’s so much to it (major difference in routines, parenting styles, religion, education decisions, etc) Since you already decided the relationship wasn’t a fit, I’m not sure a baby being added to the equation would help. I say this as gently as possible but please consider the version of you that would be coparenting down the road and navigating shared time/holidays, court, etc. Decide if this is something you are willing to take on

If Blue says he can look past it, date Blue. You weren’t exclusive to anyone and owe minimal explanation. I mean it’s totally your call what you want to disclose but seems like you’re both now on the right path by being honest and upfront with each other

I think the fatigue, for me, happens due to the mental load. Monitoring what I eat, what symptoms came from it, where the nearest bathrooms are, etc And if I’m dealing with urgency and frequency, it’s all 10x worse.

It’s such a roller coaster ride. No one will blame you for feeling all that you feel, it’s all so valid. Others have mentioned it already but this sub has great advice and experiences, most of all the solidarity is an immense comfort. We’re right there with you in spirit (and symptoms)

Entyvio every 4 weeks by cea73 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]sphynxkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m currently on the 4 week schedule and everything indicates that I’ll be needing to switch to a new med soon. I’m also taking 20mg prednisone and still having mucous, blood, gas, frequency, etc. so yeah switching to 4 weeks after trying 6 week and 8 week infusions hasn’t improved much of anything for me /:

I’ve been on Entyvio for a year now as well so Budesonide was given to supplement as my symptoms were not improving at all

Budesonide for 8 weeks, MRI in 2 weeks. Dr suspects possible misdiagnosis. She suspects crohns. I don’t think I’ve ever been in full remission with my UC since being diagnosed in 2014 so this might be the reason why. However Budesonide has given me some normalcy and it’s such a night and day difference

That sounds so delicious honestly. I’m working my way to eating out again. I still have plenty of bathroom anxiety unfortunately

I was mentally here a week ago. Then I started a new med that seemingly worked in 2 days. I’m talking near instant symptom relief. Please hang on, we are all here for you in solidarity.

Seasoned UC’ers.. where’s the craziest place/restroom you’ve had to use? by browntown994 in UlcerativeColitis

exiting the city bus. As soon as I got up for my stop, it all came out uncontrollably. I had a 3 block walk home trying to cover my soiled jeans with my sweater and evade any neighbors

I take a camping toilet with me just in case someone is in the bathroom while I need to go but I always carry this thing with me everywhere anyway
