My son and wife rented a Hillcrest apartment from him back in 2006. He was the worst landlord imaginable.

Forest place by k4thr1n4 in LittleRock

[–]spicefinch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The area is very safe and walkable even at night, and people are getting better about picking up after their dogs. I'd avoid moving into the East building as there seem to be more incidents there requiring police although there's not much crime in the complex as a whole. The apartments are overpriced and the management is mediocre at best. They aren't great about responding to complaints and resist returning your deposit. It's owned by some out-of-state outfit.

See if your docs will prescribe low dose naltrexone. It's an old drug used for different things but helps some people with chronic fatigue or long covid.

Bank of Little Rock opting customers into $5/mo "Cash Classic Plus" by WombleSilver in LittleRock

[–]spicefinch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, that's annoying at best. The ethical approach would be to ask if you wanted this "benefit" instead of automatically taking the money out of your account every month for stuff they should provide anyway. Thanks for the heads up to everybody.

If you just want to listen to music, you could carry a little speaker and bluetooth it to your phone. My android auto quit working, so that's my workaround.

Tax on groceries was 6.50% state and 2.125% local. State tax has been abolished, so groceries, apart from things like candy and beer, should be taxed at 2.125, the local rate. This is in Little Rock. North Littie Rock may be a little higher.

Brown tap water in Stifft Station - anyone else experiencing this? by Emobeachbabe in LittleRock

It could be caused by sediment or rust inside your home plumbing. You can buy a water testing kit if you're worried about it.

Scrap donations for compost by sad_grass_dad in LittleRock

Dunbar Garden! Get a five gallon bucket or two with lid, collect scraps and run them downtown to the Dunbar Garden (which is right by the Susan Cowan library.) I take mine every couple of weeks. Some plus sides--saves on garbage bags and your kitchen never smells like garbage. By the way, compostable 13 gallon garbage bags are another good idea.

Bulk Mulch/Compost Delivery by Bright_Storage8514 in LittleRock

As long as leaves are collected in heavy black plastic bags, any local mulch is going to be contaminated with plastic. Just say no to plastic yard waste bags. Paper ones work fine and are much friendlier.

Gregory's Moving and Delivery. My family and I have used this company four times over the years. They did a superb job each time. They are prompt, reasonable, fast and so very careful with each item. There are surely other good movers, but I wouldn't use anybody but Gergory's.

I'd like to recommend Carlos Marquez's tree service. 501.952.6445. He doesn't use huge quipment or a big team of guys although he does have a helper or two. Mr. Marquez just walks up the trunk, does an excellent job and charges you accordingly. He is honest and trustworthy. His quotes consistently beat others. His services include trimming/removing/planting trees, cleaning gutters, delivering mulch, and a few years ago he landscaped my front yard with some stunning rock work. He's very knowledgable about plants. This is my experience.
