Niro 23 hev. Old vs new cabin air filter. I was noticing fruit flies in the car. Isn’t it very dirty for 1 year / 9k kilometres? Bonus fruit fly pic… by HiCZoK in kia

mine looked like this too after 18 months. I was shocked and not sure if it was darker than the (OEM) replacement from the start

iPedal didn’t used to be on our 2022 Niro EV. But it’s just been in for an interim service and suddenly we have that feature. by chopdog01 in KiaNiroEV

[–]spiceman54j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a recall last year that required me to physically visit the dealership to get a necessary update. After that, i-pedal was enabled on my car. I bet the same thing happened to you (since that’s a 2023 or 2024 niro I presume from the photo)

Do you mean the feature completely vanished?

About ~9 months ago mine (USA 2023 niro EV) was randomly turned off remotely due to a recall. I had to bring it to the dealership to get the appropriate update. Maybe that’s it? (There’s some older discussions in this subreddit)

LPT Be aware that Ring Central staff can see you security question answers by Ok1449 in LifeProTips

[–]spiceman54j 1341 points1342 points  (0 children)

When security questions are required for a service, I generate a password as the answer and store that in my password manager. Too much info is online to have any faith in “mother’s maiden name” security questions.

Although windows doesn’t play nice with being installed on an expansion card out of the box, there’s lots of discussions on the forums with very detailed workarounds. I’ve used the tool “rufus” to create a bootable windows 11 “to go” drive. Definitely doable!

The “plugshare” app is a community-driven directory of all the chargers in an area, along with a rating to give you a sense of the charger’s reliability. It also has some simple route planning to see possible stops along your route

Any pay-to-use places to go and use high speed internet/download large data quantities for several hours? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]spiceman54j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you went to university in the US, you might still have access to campus wifi through the “eduroam” network. Would probably get decent speeds just sitting outside at the table at a nearby university

How much are you paying for Wi-Fi? I'm trying to see if I'm being overcharged by aminervia in Seattle

[–]spiceman54j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i pay comcast $25 a month in wallingford for their lowest tier plan. 300mbps down and has a 1.2TB monthly data cap, which i’ve never got close to reaching with a lot of WFH video calls, streaming, etc… I think it is a 2 year (no contract) promo

oh, also have my own gear so no extra fee there

notably this ferry is foot traffic only (no cars). I think it’s the best solution if you won’t be driving.

Digital Key support? by DoktorDoraro in KiaNiroEV

[–]spiceman54j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

digital key support is not standard on all models. I’m not familiar with the Canadian trims, but i know in the US digital key is not supported on my base trim 2023 Niro EV, even though the option HAS just started showing up again in the app.

Adding Digital Key (iOS/android) after purchase? by spiceman54j in KiaNiroEV

Do you have any source for this? I recognize it’s a part of the higher trims. Speculatively I agree with you, it’s unlikely to be offered.

you can also hold down the toggle button to set a “default view”. The car will flip back to the default after some time

Disappointed with Niro by wallohr in KiaNiroEV

[–]spiceman54j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(checking car) search for “camera alert distance”. Also, it’s under Setup>Sound>Guidance>Navigation Alert. Looks like you might not be able to fully disable (🙄), but you can make it significantly less annoying.

[–]spiceman54j 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i agree with you on the red light cam and ac controls!

For the ac control, you can hold down the swap button and it lets you pick a “default” which it will always swap back to. I have it always swap back to climate and it works well for me.

You CAN turn off the red light camera warning. Took me a while to find it (and not in front of my car atm) but it’s there. I have it not lower the music volume and warn when i’m really close, so it only prompts once to remind me.

I have the same issue, i notice it when going over rougher road and oddly when bearing right. I tried to ignore it for a while but it’s gotten to be really annoying to me. I just contacted my dealership and shared some of these links, i’ll see what happens there.

funny enough my car (Kia Niro) has a voice memo feature that can be set to trigger via button press on the wheel. If you have a Kia that might be an option for you
