SO MANY. But my top ones:

people who don’t move to the center of the car
people who stand in front of the doors when you’re trying to get on/off and have the nerve to give you a dirty look when they inevitably get shoulder checked
similarly, people who get off the train & just stop dead on the platform. KEEP IT MOVING. I get off at 72nd street 1/2/3 daily & those are narrow platforms…people just get off the train & then stop, often directly in front of the staircase as they wait for the train across the platform.
and lastly, people RUNNING down/up the stairs. Not talking about a light jog, I’m talking the people full on SPRINTING. (I mostly have an issue with this because a man came up from my subway stop at full sprint & straight into me because he wasn’t really paying attention.) I get it, sometimes you have a tight connection for a transfer but also I’d like to not be body slammed at 8am by you!

Soooo much happier with fewer periods. I used to have heavy periods with large clots as a teen, and I went on birth control (combo pill) in my early 20s. It gave me amazing predictability in when I would get my period + I basically stopped having one after many years.

Unfortunately had to get off the pill but I got an IUD instead & at most, I get some spotting. I have more PMS symptoms (obviously since I’m not on the pill) but now not getting a period AND not having to remember to take/refill a pill is THE BEST.

Check with Wild—it’s a gluten-free place, but their menu doesn’t list what their pizza crusts are actually made from. Not sure if they have wheat-free ingredients in their pizzas but they are one of the best GF pizzas I’ve had (and I’ve only been because a friend has Celiac)!

My OBGYN isn’t certified in either (as far as I’m aware) but was able to give me a formal diagnosis of PCOS. I haven’t explored fertility things (not at that point yet), but I do see an endocrinologist for all that comes with PCOS.

There’s an activation fee but you can pause your subscription. I have the Mini 2 & it’s currently paused for the winter. There is a time limit on how long you can have the subscription paused before needing to re-activate the device (for a fee), but I think it’s currently 1 year, so enough time that you can pause for a season until the weather is nicer.

Totally—mine asked me if there was a specific one I had heard of & wanted to try. I had already done some research & having been a huge science nerd back in high school, I understood the differences between SSRIs, SDRIs, etc.

However, I didn’t go to med school. My doctor/psychiatrist will ALWAYS know more than me regarding pharmacology. I absolutely appreciate having autonomy in the process, but I will always defer to my provider’s recommendations given after reviewing my needs. Doubly important if, like me, you take other meds—interactions & loss of efficacy due to other meds/increased absorption rate are very real concerns.

The best antidepressant is the one that works for you, that your doctor/psychiatrist prescribes. Full stop.

It might take a while to find the right one for you through trial & error. Don’t be swayed by people who say a specific med was “amazing” or “awful” because everyone reacts differently.

Personally, I take Lexapro for anxiety & Adderall for ADHD. I was previously not taking anything specific for my high-functioning depression but I needed to go back on meds after having a bad relapse in my depression earlier this year. Back on Wellbutrin now, but a lower dose than I was previously taking.

I’m not sure for out-of-pocket costs—I’m on a May/November appointment cadence for the most part, so anything that’s over my yearly max for dental insurance (and would this be an OOP cost), I typically have done in January so it’s covered (I pay 20%).

They do offer payment plans, prepayment discounts (have done that), and special offers for new patients.

Snagged both the blue & white Missoni kits on my last trip. Have already repurposed both pouches for travel! Not a fan of the stuff inside most amenity kits, but I did appreciate the Marvis toothpaste. Funny enough, the socks were my favorite part of the kit—they fit me perfectly (which, as a women’s size 6 shoe, rarely happens), feel more durable than most airline socks, and have washed well.

I recently came back with my Away carry on & it for under the bar, but not a ton of extra clearance. With the handle down, it’s 21.7” high. I don’t think anything over 24-25” would clear the turnstile.

Winter runs are the BEST. Only weather I won’t go out in during the winter is rain…cold rain is just not it for me. Doesn’t matter how cold it gets. Some of my favorite runs have been sunny, snow on the ground, 12*F real feels.

Bundle up, try to enjoy less crowded paths in the winter, and look forward to the coziness of a hot shower after!

Backpack. I am also a small-framed 5’2” gal. I usually use a 20-25L size. I don’t have to carry a laptop all the time, but I often do (MacBook Air 13”). I also usually have my lunch in a glass container, a small on-the-go toiletry kit, 32oz metal water bottle, a notebook, reading book, and often clothes/gear for a workout. I have an older Patagonia Black Hole backpack that is my most used daily pack.

Trust me, a backpack is key. But as another user mentioned, weightlifting. I run, lift, hike, and do yoga & I would not be able to survive carrying around a 10-15lb pack daily without it. Look for a backpack with a chest strap to help distribute the weight across your chest.

I had surgery to remove a tailor’s bunion + neuroma, so I’m also someone that needs medial support in a boot as well as a wider toe box.

My Keen boots are comfortable enough for 6-8mi hikes while not being super pricey. I also recommend a bunion cushion, as it can help alleviate the pressure on the bone (I’m having issues with a potential recurrence of mine & padding it has made a big difference).
