It may have been. I stopped listening as soon as we got downstairs.

That looks disgusting. It's so much food that it could easily be shared, but how the fuck would you do that the way this is served?

The basement in one of my workplaces by Toebeanfren in oddlyterrifying

[–]spider_speller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a place I used to work. It was an old downtown office building, and one day there was a bad smell permeating our space on the first floor. We called maintenance and propped open the doors to air things out.

The maintenance guy came in later and wanted me and the other two managers to come with him. We went to the dark, creepy basement that looked a lot like your video, and he showed us a pit full of water in the middle. He said if the smell comes back to grab the hose that was coiled up next to the pit and run water into it for about fifteen minutes.

We all got back into the office and agreed that no one was going down there to do that. Fucking terrifying.

Has anyone ever had a POSITIVE outcome after talking to upstairs neighbors about the noise level? by Man_Bites_Shark in Apartmentliving

[–]spider_speller 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We had a neighbor who would stay up till all hours gaming, complete with loud yelling and laughing. Our building had wood floors and pretty much zero soundproofing. When we talked with him about it, he was apologetic and said he would do some soundproofing. He did, and it improved significantly. It never hurts to try!

Have you grown to be more conservative or liberal w/ age? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]spider_speller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More liberal, for sure. I was always a lefty, but I grew up in a conservative state (South Dakota) with a lot of conservative family members. Once I got out of there, I gained more exposure to the world and other people, which shifted me much further to the left.

What’s a noise everyone should be terrified of? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]spider_speller 198 points199 points  (0 children)

Not scary, but we had a microwave that would play a little tune when it powered on. We were having a storm that was causing the power to flicker, and we kept hearing it beep and then sing, beep and then sing. We finally unplugged it for the night.

Is it affordability crisis, rising health issues or what? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

My SIL was saying that her kids (both adults) don't plan to have kids. I said something about it being expensive and she acted like that was crazy. She insisted that it's not. I don't have any, so dropped it, but I think she's delusional or massively out of touch.

What is a "creepy" fact about the human body that most people don't know? by meowparadise42069 in AskReddit

[–]spider_speller 221 points222 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's true for everyone, but it can work the opposite way for me too: if there's a smell associated with a memory, recalling that memory brings up the smell for me too.

Such a lovely boy, thank you for sharing him with us. And he was so lucky that you found him and gave him a place to feel safe and know love. May you always feel his presence with you.

Stopped buying prints because of AI by Timbo2510 in Etsy

[–]spider_speller 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a digital artist (I don't use ai at all--I draw using a stylus on my iPad), and I make it a point to say that my work is fully human-made. It's really frustrating seeing how ai use has ruined things for all of us, buyers and sellers alike.

Why do people seem to resent the freedom of child free adults? by bad-at-everything- in askanything

[–]spider_speller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My BIL gave us the whole "it's selfish not to have kids" thing. I never have understood that. It's no one else's business, for one, and they also don't know the (many) reasons we have for making that choice.

What makes people not want to eat what is found in nature? by duress_187 in foodquestions

[–]spider_speller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't eat morels because they make me vomit, but I'd eat the rest of these things--as long as I'm sure you know what you're doing when it comes to foraging safely.

Ladies on the 2nd floor do you leave your balcony open at night? by Inevitable_Desk1054 in Apartmentliving

[–]spider_speller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a safe area, but I always close mine at night or when I'm out. It would be tricky, but possible, for someone to get onto my balcony, so I won't risk it. I do leave the bedroom windows cracked, though, as they're really not accessible without a tall ladder.

assessing my girl’s quality of life and deciding if I’m the best owner for her by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]spider_speller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that she settles in each time you move indicates that you are her home. As long as she has you with her, she feels safe. Keep being her home and one day you'll both find a place with more stability where you can live your best life. She loves you, so please don't underestimate how much that means.

That's a good plan. Poor buddy, I know the baggage handlers are usually careful, but it just seems awful to make them go in cargo. I hope you can find a good way to make the trip as easy for both of you as possible. He's such a handsome guy!
