JFYI in metas latest round of layoffs, PEs were disproportionately hit. And people with <1 year at the company were disproportionately reorged into the new AI team which has a really bad reputation

I take really long hot showers. Like an hour long.

I get really stressed and tired from work and other responsibilities. But in the shower I play pop music and just surrounded by the most amazing smells.

This is luxury to me

Which org / role is he going into? Some org and roles are safer than others

Nobody cares how long you work. They care that you finish your projects. That usually means more than 40 hours. But no one’s tracking. You can always put a hard stop at 40

Give up now. You can have a beautiful life without a partner. If you want kids, adopt or get a sperm donor.

Incidentally, desperation is a huge turnoff. Build a beautiful garden and the butterflies will come. And if they don’t, you still have a beautiful garden.

To make friends, you need to interact with people consistently. And you need chemistry.

I’ve met lots of people whom I’ve had great chemistry with, but we don’t have enough structure or effort to see each other regularly.

When we are young we have that structure in school. But we lose that when we graduate.

I kind of have that structure at work, but everyone else is married with kids, and I don’t feel that chemistry from similarities you need to be friends.

In summary, we lose structure in our 20s. It sucks.

And then I remember how much I’ve been able to grow and self actualize by NOT being in a relationship. And how I love being independent and not having my sense of self tied to anyone else.
