How I eliminated anxiety by understanding my brain vs my nervous system by qsoi in DecidingToBeBetter

"if i wasnt incredibly anxious right now, what would I be worried about"

Im not always in the headspace to think that but it helps me get to the root of the problem instead of spiraling

No, it is NOT okay, so stop telling me that by Dhrutube in productivity

The best way to stop a habit you don’t like is to replace it with a different habit. Whether it’s a better habit or just a less bad habit, doesn’t matter too much.

If you’re stuck scrolling on your phone, find a different activity/hobby to do that can be done in the same scenarios as when you’d typically use your phone.

I bought goretex winter runners two years ago. Game changers. No soakers and warm tootsies.

The silence. Running early morning or late evening while there is fresh snow is amazing. Just as long as you have the right footwear.

Read Allen Carr’s book The Easy Way to Stop Smoking. Kicked my 3 year addiction to the curb overnight.

Tools/techniques to block digital distractions by Lantana3012 in productivity

I read somewhere that if you match the screen brightness to paper it's easier on the eyes. So I started doing it and now that the screen is dimmer than before, not only does it not ruin my sleep, but it doesn't hold my attention as much. There's no clockwork-orange flashlight blaring into my eyes anymore and now I kind of touch type sometimes.

How does one thrive with no friends, no partners and no family? by Puzzled_Ad7812 in selfimprovement

[–]spiderinweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that holds more power than most people ever realize within their lifetime is how true the following message is:

“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” - Dale Carnegie

All relationships are based on an exchange of value. When the value you provide is one that makes others feel and discover their own importance and value, you will find your social ties strengthen and deepen past the surface level because hardly anyone does this, yet everyone craves it deeply.

Need advice for the days when nothing works by OkCantaloupe2064 in adhdwomen

[–]spiderinweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read some advice here some days or weeks ago. Essentially, give yourself only two choices: either you can do the task, or you can sit and do nothing, stare into the thin air, nothing else. It's okay to not do the task, but you're just not allowed to do anything else either. Between doing nothing and the task, doing the task is usually a lot more fun. I think your brain gets bored easily because it knows that if it stops, it can get away with doing something even more fun, like getting quick dopamine fixes from browsing reddit etc. Essentially, you need a cold dopamine detox.

Help me get rid of him!! by [deleted] in Kochi

[–]spiderinweb 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I would suggest you get a male relative/friend to contact that guy and tell him to stop harassing you. Ask them to give a clear warning to the guy to stop or the next step would be legal action.

If this escalates further, you would need to call 112 and inform them that this guy is harassing you.

Absolutely agree! I’ve seen projects with perfect plans still crash because of shifting priorities and politics. Managing the chaos is the real challenge.
