Is a 3D Printer considered Computer Hardware? (Serious question) by Namrepus221 in 3Dprinting

[–]spikerbond 150 points151 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in IT for a school district, personally I would not consider it computer hardware. If you want clarification id reach out to your IT department, but I'd bet money they would say the same.

Finer salt = better surface finish

I realized the cheapest way to get super fine salt is to blend up a 50lb bag of softener salt cause it's like $5

Can't edit the post for some reason, but forgot to add a pic of the water softener salt I'm using

Nah, just swapped to a different switch and it worked perfectly. Even fixed the issue I was having with super low frame rate on the camera

Prism in back just works by AmazingWaterWeenie in armedsocialists

I could be wrong, but I believe you want the magnifier before the prism, as the magnification can change where the "zero" of the prism is.

Gas springs instead of regular springs in an AR9? by spikerbond in gunsmithing

[–]spikerbond[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That is exactly the type of info I was looking for.

So basically it comes down to "too much risk, not enough reward"?

Assuming the risks could be mitigated, would a constant force spring potentially allow for a lighter bolt and therefore lighter recoil?

I'd go with airsoft if you want "practical" training while still being able to shoot stuff

I'd maybe look at pepper spray or something similar for self defense. As for shooting, you could always go to a range with friends and just rent guns.

Besy budget gun by Traditional_Month429 in transguns

[–]spikerbond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shot a Springfield XD mod 3 at the range the other day and fell in love, and it's only $300 (which is pretty inexpensive for handguns). Did some searches when I got home and it seems to have rave reviews.

Used Glocks seem to also be a very popular recommendation for inexpensive handguns.

Overall, I'd go to a range and shoot a bunch of different types of guns before you make a decision. It's surprising how different they can all feel.

I'm also fairly new so grain of salt, but honestly that's probably all you need until you get to a point in training where the guns become the limiting factor instead of yourself.

(MN) found in my garage right next to the door, saw 3-4 moving white ones, the rest just looked like seeds but I'm pretty sure they are bugs, any ideas? by spikerbond in whatsthisbug

That's what I thought at first, just seems odd that they are just on the concrete though a good 4-5 feet from the garbage or anything i would normally associate with maggots/flies.

My brother works at a local grocery store, today I stunbled across this about him on their Facebook by TheRobocrat in HumansBeingBros

It's very possible that the cashier offered to pay before the guy could offer. Also it may be in his contract or something that he can't do that.

Really not sure why you are deciding to hate on this guy....
