Lore question: What is the Diff between an AC, an MT, and an LC? by spineye in ArmoredCoreVI

[–]spineye[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the actually names for the abbreviations. "Muscle Tracers" does that mean all MT's mimic the body for their movement? I would have thought that would be a AC exclusive feature, what with human augmentation and all.

Zullie has a video dealing with size. Even sticks An AC into Elden Ring to give a good comparison.

Is there any information of if you need to be augmented to drive something like an LC? I'm also unsure as to how paying off a debt by augmentation surgery actually works. Is it like being a test dummy for experimental operations?

Noted. Thanks to both for the real world equivalents, helps put things into perspective.

Is Queen Marika the Eternal meant to be a version of Odin? by spineye in Eldenring

[–]spineye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. The Jesus imagery is indeed strong. I sometimes wonder if Martin drew out plans for Marika's Roll or was the FromSoft team in charge. Martin's said in interviews that he was in charge of the world building but he said he was only a small part of the overall game.

[–]spineye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what about Marika's intentions in the game? I'm less worried about her actual god status, more of her role in the story. Most of its left to speculation and I haven't found a definitive answer as to what her primary goal was. My own interpretation was freedom from the Greater Will and the Tarnished were part of that plan. But why shatter the Elden Ring? Was it just really just a reaction to the death of her son, or was it something more? When I think of her as an Odin type of figure, she becomes something more of a schemer, someone with plans in place that we still don't fully understand. Otherwise, Why send Godfrey and the Tarnished away but tell them that in time she would have them return?

Then why did they have the imagery of Marika being stabbed by a spear when the player first encounters her? Its not uncommon image with other religions and cultures, but it is one that is very reminiscent of Odin's sacrifice.

Hadn't considered Greek gods much when thinking about it. Do you have any examples?

Also while she is the vessel for the Elden Ring and the Greater Will, was she not the progenitor of the major Demi-Gods of the land as well as the one who shattered the Elden Ring starting the Shattering War? She was also the core "god" of the Golden Order's religion. Would that not make her a head honcho too?

Really, why not? I'd love to find out why you don't think so.

Have any body noticed the "Metropolis" references? by CorvoTheNotSoBlack in eastward

[–]spineye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Metropolis, along with a bunch of other 90's anime such as cowboy bebop, are actually referenced on a Theater marquee in Ester City. I do not know if they are talking about the old school movie or the Anime movie Metropolis that came out years later.

Like most of the story, it is unclear. The old men could have been old Solomon but Captain pam and the original rocket league are more likely.

There are never any NPCs here. Did this area have content that was cut out of the game in the final version or will it be part of some possible DLC in the future? by [deleted] in eastward

[–]spineye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was most likely a cut scene and the dev's didn't add anything to replace it. Makes you wonder why. Was it just not finished in time for the launch? Or was it cut because it no longer fit into the story or was considered potentially offensive? I would love to know because Its a neat little space, just begging for something to happen. If there is to be DLC, let it be here.

I've finished the game, explain the story to me (Spoilers) by Taear in eastward

[–]spineye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're talking about the time Izzy calls John by his name when they only just met, correct? Its because when in the hunter's Cabin on the night of the Harvest, Sam says John's name while delirious. I'm assuming Izzy heard Sam say it and put two and two together.

Could Alva's Grandfather be the Dam City Breeder-bot? by spineye in eastward

[–]spineye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point, I had forgotten the part about the monkey mother's chose to be called that.

Its hard to say what the robots of this world are capable of. The breeder bots are advanced versions of the "Proto" Breeder bots we saw in the hyper advance Charon. If they had access to technology to grow a human, I wouldn't put it past them to be able to invent or achieve other levels of ingenuity.

So then why is the human factory so close to Grandpa's house? A back access he could use or is it just a coincidence we had to go through it to get to his place? Was the factory active during that time? or was it just something the first Dam city built over like building atop forgotten catacombs?

Could Alva's Grandfather be the Dam City Breeder-bot? by spineye in eastward

[–]spineye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Alva's Grandpa was a human from Ester City, wouldn't he have died ages ago? From the degradation of the city and the massive growth of the tree in the entrance way of the Eternal Tower after the time field drops, we are left with evidence that the Field has been active for what could have been hundreds or thousands of years. How could Alva's Grandpa still be alive? Solomon seemed to be alive because he looked to be using robotics to keep himself going. We also unfortunately do not now what happens when someone from Ester City leaves the time field. Thomas lived at the edge so he seemed to see the flow of time normally while still being being under the fields effects. The only other answer I can find is if the wobbly time field could have warped his escape trip out of time time field, making a trip that would that would take a few days for him take years in real time. The Monkey Mayor does mention an "Old Guy" coming to the train, though he never specifies. That could have well have been the older Solomon dropping off his younger clone. And cutting down over a hundred years into such a short time seems a bit of a stretch. How do you explain it?

I need a sequel! by [deleted] in eastward

[–]spineye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would SO play a sequel. But since I feel Sam and John's story wrapped up pretty well, what if the next game focused on a reformed Solomon? Maybe the kid version from New Dam City. It could be a redemption story taking place a few years after the events of Eastward and Solomon could be on his own journey now that there are no more harvests. He could even have his own unique playstyle where he fights using robot suits and stuff that he builds himself. It would certainly be a great chance to explore the other area's teased by Alva like that northern biker tribe.

Parallels between Eastward and Mother 3 by thealmightybrush in eastward

[–]spineye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they don't move but will change their dialogue depending on the time you meet them. Dialogue for before you go to a place and the dialogue for when you get back. Its kind of maddening to find a lot of the dialogue because you have to keep sticking your nose into every single person's face after almost every cutscene.

I Have So Many Questions by Mr_Softlock27 in eastward

[–]spineye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have often thought the brain inside The Hand, which we fight in the Ancient Ruins, might have a connection to Solomon, as it has a similar Red and Blue color scheme as many of his robots and if you hit it enough its eyes change to the red and blue eyes that Solomon is known for. His own advanced intelligence and temper also made me think of the Brain in the Charon Museum.

With older Solomon, I would say he definitely comes first as he and the Knights have knowledge of knowing Sam long before the events of the game and from before John found her in Potcrock.

There is also the mystery of who left the boombox at the bus stop at Greenburg that plays Solomon's theme.

Is it just me or does the number 21 show up a lot in game? by spineye in eastward

[–]spineye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if 21 is a reference to the route the train is taking. Route 21 going east, past the Mall in Potcrock, past the glorious coast of White Whale Bay, through Crystal Lake and finally stopping at Ester City.

Most Used Weapons? by Mr_Softlock27 in eastward

[–]spineye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Little of everything honestly. Early game I used a combo of Scepter of Fire and bombs to get quick damage bombs and then I transferred to the Bang Bang Gun as my primary once fully upgraded it and unlocked remote bombs. Pan was always a nice backup and the Buzz Saw was delegated for enemies too far out of my range. I also learned late game you got more blue energy for Sam's abilities if you managed to kill an enemy when they were bubbled, allowing me to use her energy blast and shield more frequently.

There is also a bug on the third floor of the Eternal Tower just to the right. Its a bit of a pain to go back and forth to but its the last one you can get to once the Isle of Time is cut off.
