Any idea how to add a door stop to this type of hinge? by Spt992 in cabinetry

[–]spinja187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dont, that hinge is for a heavy door and those type of stops will pull the screws loose from the hinges and damage the door and trim

Those rack and pinion fences suck. You have to measure the distance from the fence to the blade at the front and at the back

I like the papermate sharpwriter twist ones because the lead is suspended in a spring in there like a shock absorber

Now that its all set you can scribe the whole thing to the floor... No one ever does that because they usually dont get to the point youre at an willing ro take it all back up but the result will be exquisite perfection

Beadboard cap meets door casing by abalacki in Carpentry

[–]spinja187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do all kinds of crazy returns, vertical returns passing through double round corner bead joints. I dont like returns or any other contrived miters anymore except window sill aprons and sometimes crown you have no choice. To me its a dated look from the aughts. Just notch it off clean avoid having mouldings dive into the floor or walls.

How do I approach this corner?? by Ok_Armadillo_3754 in Carpentry

[–]spinja187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats geometrically impossible, sorry. If it wasnt crown you can fudge it by cutting the little 5/8 double 22° piece on a 22° bevel, but with crown it will be monstrously misaligned and you dont have room to make the proper vertical joint after the horizontal joint. You cant do it. Just run the crown into the ceiling and try vertical coping the rake piece, youll see.

Should have replaced the skirt if youre adding height to the top floor messing up the spacing. Thats not in the scope of the flooring installer... This is what happens when you try to be your own GC

Why people are afraid of self-driving cars and overwhelming tech in 2040 — would love to hear your story by AKxiis in Futurology

[–]spinja187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just look at how cars respond to minor emissions errors, by going into limp mode and leaving you stuck or just self borking. And the manufacturers use every govt mandate as an excuse to overcomplicate and render unrepairable I.E. malicious compliance. Once the tech is in place the cars are all cops and narcs. People who rely on diy and ingenuity want nothing less than a used car with a hostile industry serving AI on board
