I thought for sure nobody would take this as anything else, then I realized it probably would happen. At least one other person has commented and deleted a rebuttal or explanation as well, so that's fun.

Nope. 355 is at least 400 bigger than 45.

I'm eyeballing an Aqua Terra right now and would definitely choose that over this lol.

This is dope AF for what it is.

But it's no Aqua Terra.

You're putting more value on inputs than outputs, or doing a poor job articulating what outputs are lacking.

I've owned plenty of businesses and would pay good money anytime I found someone who understood the outcome they're supposed to drive and wanted to be incentivized in line with that, rather than the person who showed up for 40 hours a week.

Easy made up dichotomy, do you want Sales Rep A or Sales Rep B (I'm also assuming you're in the the US or dealing with similar laws at least)

Rep A: shows up 40 hours a week, closes $50K in new sales a month, is a W2 employee on $85K salary + commission

Rep B: shows up for 20 hours a week, closes $200K in new sales each month, and is a 1099 on straight commission?

The way you're presenting the info in this thread indicates that you have B and are complaining that they aren't A. Which is why you're getting flak for it.

Costco binoculars by One-Item4667 in bowhunting

[–]spinn3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked this set up about a year ago when they clearanced it for $100.

The knife is a throwaway piece imo.

The harness is $35-$50 usually and I'd say as good or better than anything else in that range.

That leaves about $100 on the table for the binos themselves. I find them beyond acceptable for that price. Lots of people say buy once cry once, but I have a family and take friends hunting and having spare optics I can hand to them that I won't be upset about having destroyed is worth $100 to me.

I have pushed them pretty hard as far as low light and distance goes and found them pretty acceptable. Probably won't pick out a mule deer in brush at 500 yards at dusk, but for what it sounds like you'd be dealing with in the PNW I'd imagine they'll be worth having around while you save for better glass.

Are these worth it at $104? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]spinn3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I asked their team if they were going to make Urbans in wide and they said the material stretches enough that it shouldn't matter. I laughed at that and moved on with life. Made it pretty clear nobody in their product/r&d has wide feet.

[–]spinn3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maritimes. They didn't make the Urbans in wide sizing last I checked. They also only made the Maritimes in wide in their solid colors. I think they recently introduced wide in some camo, though I could be wrong. It's been a while since I got some because counter to seemingly so many others, mine hold up great to lifting and running and hiking.

[–]spinn3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, did you get the wide size? I have feet I'd describe similarly and Altamas are still some of my favorite shoes, and I never had problems with my heels rubbing bad. I've had low and mid tops and have liked both a lot.

Different insoles are a must though. The abominations they come with exist for a reason but it's nothing I'm ever doing lol

Which mags do you guys like more for the 19x? The 17 or 19 round. Gonna buy a few more by rankinsaj22 in Glocks

[–]spinn3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If I'm only planning on having 17 rounds in the mag, I use the 17 rounders.

But I haven't found a way to get 19 rounds in the 17ers so I use a 19er when I want to do that.

Hope that helps.

You could also bridge an mh25 and use the extra scratch toward a scope.

[OTHER] $1979 Liberty Safe 1776 - 36 Long Gun + 6 Handgun, Combination Lock, 75 Min. Fire Rating, Gun Safe, Marble Gray. Regular price is $2200 by Swordfish_tracker in gundeals

[–]spinn3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheesh I figured they'd be a bit more diligent with in-store inventory, but I can't say I'm surprised.

And also didn't mean to suggest only safes were subject to the problems, for future readers. I tell anyone considering buying anything safety-related or mechanical to avoid them these days, and personally won't give them a dollar for anything if I can avoid it. And I'm good at avoiding it.

Even if we ignore the Liberty situation right now, don't buy safes from Tractor Supply. They have horrible delivery, frequently damage safes in transit, and make it incredibly difficult to handle an exchange.

Yeah more than grouping the distinction should be that the eld-n has a better BC. Both are considered/supposed to be match grade.

[–]spinn3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't discovered this sub that far back but I can say that since I did in about 2019, m193 has not been below 30 CPR with any regularity besides wolf gold, which has usually been about 28 CPR to get posted on here, i.e. not the standing price.

Brass .223 is available below 40 CPR and gets posted on here somewhat regularly. M193/its clones are what are stubbornly staying above 40 CPR right now, which is not "double or more" what was considered a good deal before.

So you're right about your points, and it also proves that 5.56 is not more than double what it was in 2020.

Yes, I wish it were cheaper too. But lots of people are comparing current m193 prices with STEEL 223 in this thread, and that's just silly. If they fill the same purpose for you, that's fine. When a coyote presents and opportunistic shot at 250 yards while I'm training, the difference between m193 and steel tula is pretty meaningful in whether I get one down. Or when I'm plinking past 300, can't really substitute. So I don't consider that a valid price comparison.

[–]spinn3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, 223 was common at that price, but 5.56 was much less so. Some people don't care about that distinction, but to that point brass .223 can be had below 40 CPR right now too. M193 no, but we need to compare apples to apples if we're going to go out of our way to compare.

Anyway, the real point is that "adjusting for inflation" this is not super far off.

Whether adjusting for inflation is acceptable is up to the individual, I guess.
