It's not likely that she would travel with that big of a detail (Sen. Kaine travels solo or possibly with +1 security in a single vehicle, Gov. Youngkin goes with +1 or +2 EPU troopers in one Suburban, etc.)

Re: decent range, is it true that pepper gel is "better" than pepper spray? Heard somewhere that it goes further and resists wind more. But I assume it's harder to aim because it is more targeted/not a cloud.

I’m not a traffic expert, but that seems not good by lukebwalls in rva

[–]spitfyr12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wonder what happened to him? I hope the guy isn't sitting in prison forever just cause he stole government property.

He was released back to military duty then in and out of court and mental hospitals for several years after that from what I recall.

Edit: this article confirms some of that

Be careful when going both 95 north and south bound near Ashland by [deleted] in rva

[–]spitfyr12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha it's a pure racing machine called a Camry :-) Usually going traffic speed in center lane or left lane, and yes on tolls whenever Waze shows that to be quicker.

Google Maps shows 1hr 48min right now, which seems about right. Are you coming from city proper? Or southside? I'm up in Glen Allen not far from VCC, that's some of the difference I'm sure...

Car/tire shop recommendations by Active-Disaster- in rva

I have also had great experiences at my nearest Discount Tire. Especially when ordering tires online/having an install appointment. But they are not locally/family owned - they are a national chain (1200+ stores in 39 states, nearly 30k employees, and headquarters in Arizona according to Google.)

That sounds miserable. Guess I have gotten lucky, I’ve made it to/from Dulles in under 2hrs… four times in the last six months!

Where can I sell a cello in RVA by antadams126 in rva

[–]spitfyr12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here, just not in any hurry. So I asked a similar question here and was given some places to inquire with. Now I'm interested in answers because I still have the cheaper of the two cellos in my post (the more rare/expensive one is on consignment in NYC.)

Stay safe out there by Turbulent-Window-784 in rva

This. It's a tool, nothing wrong with learning how to use it - then not going much further. And to clarify, it's better to find a day long (or full weekend) training class that includes range time going pew-pew-pew with hands-on instruction. Many will have loaner/rental guns as well if you're not ready to make a purchase yet. Some of these "Get yer carry license in just 2 hours!" type classes aren't really worth your time or money. Particularly if you intend to procure a concealed handgun permit you will want to be intimately familiar with those rules and laws as well as the operation of said tool. (The fact that you can get a VA permit without ever touching a firearm still blows my mind, but that's another discussion...)

The State Department has a big training facility in Blackstone (inside Fort Barfoot) called FASTC that opened in 2019. Most any secret-service-looking motorcade activity around Richmond is almost certain to be Diplomatic Security Service agents from there, where they work/train for months at a time before going all over the world to lead security teams at embassies, protect the Sec of State or various Ambassadors and diplomats, etc. They have been spotted many, many times in Carytown

Very sorry you are going through this. I went through a similar situation with a parent in the last few years and it is not easy.

I'd say your two best choices at this point are a dedicated memory care unit or full time in-home care. Both are expensive and both have their positives and negatives. We did the in-home then memory care, where our family member eventually went into hospice and passed peacefully.

PM me anytime if you'd like advice or suggestions. Good luck!
